| Hiya Miss and welcome to the ADBB! Nice to have you with us. Congrats on your 6 lb loss so far. That's cool! It's also cool that you're adding exercise into the equation. It's a non negotiable part of the programme, but the sooner you start, the better... whatever you do! Don't worry about a pause in weight loss. Here's a link that might interest you: (Weight loss is not linear)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard....read.php?t=5090 (Weight Loss is not Linear). If you follow the plan to a "T" it'll work for you!

| Thanks so much for the link! That really puts my mind at ease. I had been weighing myself constantly and I am at the stage where I gained a pound back, so I guess this is water weight I loss. Still, I plan to keep exercising 30 minutes a day, maybe more. Any ideas on a good exercise that has brought results? Oh, and congrats on your weight loss. I see your pictures at the bottom of the post. Impressive! |

| I forgot to add to my last post, walking is a great exercise overall. If you want to incorporate some weight training, acquiring some hand weights and checking the internet for exercises is very helpful....that's what I did and it worked very well for me. Cardio and weight training have been a great combo for me. Don't forget to drink lots of water and to take vitamins as well! All the very best to you! | Thanks Sarina! I will do that. I have a question though. On one of the sticky threads the writer says not to call what you do atkins if it is a variation on the 2002 book. I bought the atkins book, but I'm not sure if it is the right year. How many carbs does the original atkins program allow? Thanks for clarity on this.

| The book we use here on this forum is "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002" or otherwise referred to in posts as "DANDR". The total carbs allowed during Induction is 20 grams (this is according to the DANDR book that we use)....be sure to stick to that while you're going through your Induction time. Hope this helps! | I walk for exercise too... that and do a straight half hour exercise routine (nothing fancy but have built up to fairly strenuous). My doggies are my treadmills! Works for me. Why not join a challenge or two? They're fun and very motivating.

| Thanks for the suggestion. I think I will start walking in the morning. Is it cold where you are? It is getting cold here, and I'm wondering if I should walk when it is cold. I find that I lose weight the best when I walk or jog. The only thing that bothers me about walking in the cold is I tend to get a sore throat and get sick.
