Marriage + Baby = Fatty is on a distinguished road
Smile saw an old pic of myself...

...and, like chilee, I wanted to cry. I'm not actually a fatty. That's just something I say to pretend the extra weight doesn't bother me. To most people, I look like your average big-boned girl who needs to drop a few. But being a former dancer and going from 125 lbs. to almost 170 lbs. in the span of just a few years has been really difficult.

Atkins has worked for me in the past, but I'm not good about sticking to it. I don't have much support from my friends, who think Weight Watchers is the end-all, be-all of dieting. My husband, who loves carbs more than air, has managed to maintain his high school weight all these years, so he has no interest in joining me. This is why I'm enlisting some help from you guys!

Why am I so determined? Because I want another baby, and the thought of packing on another 30 pounds just isn't okay with me. So my deal to myself and my husband is that I will be ready to have a baby when I've lost the weight. I hope the incentive is enough for my willpower to win over my cravings.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everybody and losing weight with you guys!

You've come to the right place for motivation and support!

My best advice is to follow the plan to the letter, and stay involved with this board. If you haven't seen this yet, check it out. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html (If you are NEW, READ THIS!) It's a good refresher for getting back into the Atkins mindset, and includes some useful links to help navigate the board. Best of luck to you!

Your post made me laugh so hard! I can so relate to your situation. I was the one who had the two babies back to back but not before trying to loose first (not). I too have the carb loving family , and we have to cook for them! Please keep in touch, I need support too. Most friends and family tell me I am going to die on this diet , it is so dangerous, but I see happy people here no complaints except that it is hard. Thanks for the laugh!

Michelle, my husband has the same fanatic idea about low carb, that it's going to kill me, but I don't see how it's any different to put a piece of cheese in my mouth as opposed to a bag of chips...he's ok when I'm gorging on ice cream and cookies but when I start eating a little more meat and veggies and stay away from the junk food, he starts in on me...It's worked for me before and it's going to work for me again, and I'm going to stick to low carb for the rest of my life because it's what I have to do for me. Hang in there and don't let people who don't know what they are talking about get to you...if you read the Atkins book it really isn't a bad way of life, what's bad about eating meat and vegetables?? You can do it, just stick with it!
