Default Brand new and a believer!

Hi All!

I started Atkins about 2 1/2 months ago, and I discovered this board today while researching a carb question online. Your stories and photos are very inspiring!

I have dropped two sizes in just 2 1/2 months, so have been very excited.

However, I got rid of my scales 2-3 years ago, put away my full length mirror, and have been living in denial over how heavy I have become over the past few years. So I was shocked when I bought a scale last week and discovered that I now weigh 240 lbs! I was stunned and ended up in bed for the day, with the covers over my head. I had weighed between 120-125 lbs. for most of my adult life, so I literally grew into two people.

I stayed with the program while I tried to wrap my mind around this new information. I was thinking that maybe I had 50 lbs. to lose...but 110 lbs is nearly a whole person! I am shocked by the depth of my own denial.

I am 50 and a single parent, living in Louisiana. My only child heads off to college this year. I would like to be much lighter for his graduation in mid-May. I just may not be as light as I wanted.

I thank God that I had a chance to see that Atkins really works before I weighed myself for the first time.

So glad that I found you!

Welcome,

I just joined this site yesterday and I am just excited about this new way of life. It works without starving myself and I get to eat some really great foods. I can't believe that I am losing weight after eating a juicy cheeseburger with a lettuce bun of course.

Glad to hear your success. Keep it up.

Congrats on finding the board, never2late. And especially on already being on Atkins! There are a lot of great stories here and everyone will be reading about you getting to goal one day too!

Hey Bender... have you seen the recipe for the Oopsie rolls? It looks like you could still enjoy a cheeseburger with a "bun". I'm definitely going to try those this weekend.

Isn't it great to enjoy that burger and not be hungry!! This has been the biggest bonus for me...I rarely feel hungry and have lost my cravings...such a relief!
