| Hey Michelle, Welcome to the board. My name is Miranda. Glad you came here. I get frustrated easily when it comes to loosing weight. I was thin up until I had my son almost 5 years ago and then after being put on bed rest gained over 100 pounds and it has never came off, Ive just added more to it. I also heard that this diet was unhealthy but after seeing my mom, who is 60, loose over 45 pounds and feel better than she had, I decided to give it a try. I've done it a few times and didnt stick to it until this time, but each time I have seen results.... This is a great site for support and encouragement.... Good luck.

| Hey Michelle, I tired Atkins a couple of years ago and was able to lose 40 lbs, but after my daughter came home from spending the summer with her dad everything that I did went out the window. Back to bad eating habits. I know the diet works and that is why I am going to do it again. I am at an all time high of 284, which I do not like either. I can remember when I was 125---oh that was so long ago...after my last child along with going to school full time and working full time, the weight just keep going up and up. I sprained my ankle 3 weeks ago from falling down off a curb. I know the weight does not help my balance. My kids also say they like me just the way I am, but for their sake and mine I need to get the weight off. I feel like a patient at a nursing home with all the medication I have to take and I am only 46!! I take more meds than my 95 y/o grandmother does. Hang in there!!! You can look at www.fitday.com and it will help you chart your loss along with keeping a food diary... it breaks down the percentage of fat, proteins, and carbs that you have eaten for the day. Kathy

| Dear Michelle. Welcome on board. I know what you mean about people saying this diet is unhealthy. I have to always defend why I am on it but once they see the results they will understand (or maybe not) but you have to do what feels right for you. If Atkins feels right to you then go forward with it. We will all be here to support you through. Good luck and keep posting.

| Atkins is very healthy if done properly! I have never eaten more vegetables in my life. As for the "blood type diet" it does not take into consideration circumstances or factors (iron deficiency anemia, peanut allergy, etc.) other than blood type. What if someone with AB type blood has celiac disease, yet eats a diet that is "right" for their blood type? (The AB diet includes sprouted wheat, rye flour, whole wheat pasta, etc.) It would kill them! Also, blood types have no relation to the digestive tract. Welcome to the board! Check out the stickies and the FAQ section. If you haven't already, pick up a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 edition).
