Smile hello everybody......

first attempted this diet 5 years ago for one month only, just to lose a bit of weight for a holiday !............now I'm in my 'middle youth' and coupled with a few years non activity and a past year of trying to stop smoking
...such as stopping last xmas for 3 months then starting again for 1 month then stopping again for another 3 months....starting again in August then finally stopping again last Sept. (start of college) .....the food intake has been extreme to say the least and my weight ballooned as well as my pants size !
Went to doctors a couple of weeks ago (back, knee, ankle probs) and was advised to get exercise and try dieting. Had a shock when I was weighed...........
19 stones and 10 pounds (276).....I couldn't believe my eyes ! ( I used to be a fit 12 stone 30 yr old ! )

So, My wife and I decided to have another go together and we'll complete our 14 day induction tomorrow (weigh in day is Monday, tomorrow) . After the first week wifey lost 4lbs and I lost 8 lbs !

looking forward to a seriously longer challenge this time!


Just a couple of questions for you pros out there.....How long can ketosis last for ? (been using those sticks !)

How much weight could I possibly lose in conjunction with regular exercise in 5 months ?

Any comments and advice will be greatly appreciated....

Hi Bender It's great you have your wife doing this with you!!
As for how much weight you can lose..... bodies vary, but guys lose quicker than gorls (that's MEAN!!) After your initial loss, you should aim for an average of 2 pounds a week (so say the experts ) You may find that the first few months you'll lose 3 pounds a week, stall for a bit, lose another 3 then 2 a week, etc. Make sure you both take measurements, cause the scale is not the best guage of how things are moving!

Welcome aboard Bender, to you and to your wife. It's cool that you have each other for support and inspiration, not to mention it making things easier from a practical point of view! Congratulations on your good starts.
