| Too bad not all doctors are with the programme yet. Low carbing does help people with typ 2 diabetes. Glad to hear you're sticking to it. Are you adding some more veggies now? They are low carb and low fat.

| I've always been a big veggie eater. My main problem right now is a spouse on a low fat diet. He has learned to substitute say, baked yams, for mashed potatoes, but the yams do bad things to my blood sugar. I do much better when stuff isn't in the house at all. He buys candy bars and ice cream -- although he's gotten much better at substituting fruit for them. |

| I'm still in induction but I have not only lost 9 lbs so far but my morning blood tests have been getting consistantly lower as well. I too am a type 2 diabetic. One of the reason's I went on this diet is because I wanted to get my blood sugar down....I was hovering around 280 even on meds. This diet is great! Keep it up. |

| Type 2 here. Low carb since the day after I was diagnosed. My Dr does not support it either, but he is clearly wrong. My blood sugar is 90-110 all the time. If not for low carb, I would be an out of control diabetic. Even the evil ADA came out in support of low carb on Jan 8, 2008. Then they never said another word about it. The pill companies don't like not being needed as much. Anyhoo, best of luck to you, hopefully your husband will do his own research and study this WOE!

| My doctor, as so many others, isn't with the plan either. When I was still going to the nutritionist and losing weight with her plan (slowly but I was losing) I told my doctor that my A1C had gone from 10.3 to 6.6 form one appointment to the next and was pumped because the endocrinologist had said I was now considered a "controlled diabetic".....what the Internist said to me was "You just need to loose weight because that's what will make you feel better, but you'll always be a diabetic." I can't wait to hopefully get off the meds and not be considered diabetic any longer! Getting off the meds I'm on is what keeps me going day after day. We can do this -- how could we not, when the food tastes so good, there is such a variety and the people on this website are the friendliest and most helpful on the net???? One step at a time.....keep moving forward!! Carole
