Since your 13, the best thing you could do to start is tell your parents/guardians that you would like to lose weight by starting atkins. This is important because your gonna need their support to get started. Im not sure what kinds of food you have around the house but your acceptable foods while on Atkins (especially in the begginig) are very limited. Therefore, you may need 2 have your meals prepared seperately, as well as have a seperated grocery list. The more prepared you are, the less likely you are to cheat. Second, get the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins revolution diet book and read it COVER to COVER! This is important so that you know what you're doin correctly (of course we'll always be here to help but if you read the book b4 hand u prevent sabotage and won't have to worry about coming to us AFTER the damage is already done). I ordered 6 book on this diet on ebay (I did not read all 6!) and I was so excited to start changing my life that I came to this site and researched all I could until my books arrived. They have GREAT info on this site so make good use of it! 13 is a WONDERFUL age to try to change your life and I wish I had started this early but I always say better late than never! Dont let anything discourage you because anything worth having is worth working hard for! Good Luck!

You've already gotten some good advice, but I feel I must tell you that you should not blame yourself for your weight troubles. We all tend to do that, but you must remember that you're very special, no matter what! You're obviously a very smart person to be thinking ahead already and making plans to make big changes in your life. And you CAN do it! We're here to help you.

I think we're all proud of you! I remember strugglign with my weight problems when I was 13, but I never went to anyone for help. Just keep trying! Make sure your parents know so they can help you prepare by buying you the right types of food. If you feel any temptation just think about how those boys will be lining up to ask you out for prom if you had an hour glass figure and weighed much less

I've gone over this for months with my parents, and honestly, they don't know what to do. So I've decided to just do it myself. Hopefully I this will work and by high-school; well I hope; I'll be fit enough to join the soccer team. Hopefully

| Have you talked to your doctor about this? You and your parents should go and see one together. Don't try this on your own. We all need help and you being a kid still have to make sure you work this out with your parents.

ineedhelp, have your parents read the book yet? If they haven't, if they can see how and why the diet works and what benefits you can expect from it, they might get on board with you. It takes some creative food preparation to keep this way of eating interesting and satisfying. So you would probably appreciate some extra help.. especially in the kitchen and with preparing portable snacks and meals to take with you. DON'T get discouraged. You might just have to work a little harder to get started on track. And it sounds like you have the motivation to do it!
