Default Third time lucky

Hi,

I have been lurking for a few weeks, and think it is time to introduce myself. I am 47, female, in the UK. This is my third time starting Atkins - both the other times I lost well on induction and in the early weeks - around 20 - 28 pounds each time, but then fell off the wagon. I think my problem was because I have a fair bit to lose and so thought I would stay on induction. I suppose I got a bit bored with the restrictions of induction, but felt I had to stay on it to lose more before going onto OWL. This time round though, I did 3 weeks induction and then moved onto the extra veggies on rung 1 of OWL. I really love to cook and experiment with food, so the thought that I can add different food choices every few weeks for more variety is keeping me keen!

How much have I lost? Well my scales conveniently packed in a week before I started, so I don't know for sure, but I reckon on 9 (ish) pounds at the end of the first two weeks, when I got my new scales, and 2 more pounds in week three. So 11 lbs and counting - next weigh day is Saturday. I'm not worried about knowing exactly how much I lost on induction, as with about another 100lbs to go, those two weeks are only the start of the journey anyway!

Thanks to everybody who posts on here, I learn something everytime I come on the board - my DH (also on Atkins with me) reckons I've become a ADBB addict I'm working my way through the stickies on the OWL forum at the moment.

Revolution rolls have been used for 'bread,' substitute Yorkshire puddings and trifle sponges! Flax 'muffins in a minute' (a couple of times a week for a little 'help' in the loo department ) have been muffins, and baked after cooking to make rosemary and ginger biscuits (separately - not together!) and tonight they are going to be cobbler topping for slow cooker beef stew! We also tried the flax pizza crust, and I can't believe how many different things there are to do with a cauliflower!

Anyway, I'll sign off for now - looking forward to getting to know you all better.

CP

Welcome, CP and congratulations on your weight loss and your plan to move onto OWL!!!

How wonderful that your DH is on Atkins, too.

Thanks for the welcomes.

Weigh day tomorrow morning- then I'm out all day. We're driving to pick up my sister-in-laws new doggie! She is buying us a pub lunch, so that will be my first meal out since starting this time around. Gulp!

I' m planning on having either steak/chicken/gammon and salad, (one of the - not all of the!) or if it's Sunday lunch type meal, I'll have to go for meat and legal veg, and skip the gravy. I' m going to take some cooked chicken legs and wings as well, in case I don't feel satisfied after lunch, or get the munchies on the way.

My DH is saying "well, I'll probably just have a couple of potatoes with mine and then get right back on track on Monday,'" but I'm determined to keep on plan - especially as I've just come in from 3 hours digging the veg plot over for this year - the last time I had enough energy to do that was 9 years ago, when I weighed 35 lbs less that I do now (and of course was 9 years younger)!!!! I'm just so happy to be eating this way. I feel better in so many ways In fact I feel so great today that even if the scales aren't 'good' tomorrow morning, I don't mind! - That will probably come back to bite me on the bum now

I hope everyone is having a great week-end - we have had sunshine nearly all day - spring is on the way!!!!

Welcome aboard CP. With your enthusaism and love of experimenting, you will do just fine.

And discourage your DH from eating the potatoes if possible. He'll thank you later!
