| John, don't worry about the obese label on the BMI index. I have lost 39 pounds, am wearing size 34 jeans that I haven't worn in probably 15 years, and I'm still severely overweight. I was obese 12 pounds ago. Any running back in the NFL is also considered obese. As far as the rest of it goes, keep worrying. You are about where I started in December. I was 241, but two inches taller. I'm still two inches taller but hanging out at 202. I smoke. I drink. I did a completely clean induction and then I have been all over the ladder. I didn't go up the rungs in order, and I understand that it has impeded my progress. I am now doing what is sustainable for me. I kinda straddle the ladder. I stay under 20 grams of carbs, I eat nuts, and I have been known to have a beer or 5 (mich ultra). I'd rather have slow progress and be all over the ladder than quit and be fat and unhealthy. Your results may vary though, everyone is different. We are also about the same age. I am finding that age slows everything down too, except weight gain, that's getting quicker. ![]() Posting here and keeping up with my Atkins friends every day has made all of the difference in the world for me this time around. Also, using the recipes on Linda's Low Carb site allow me to eat my favorite foods, just made a bit differently. Stick with it and join us for roll call tomorrow in STAC. T. J.

| Hi, John! You're not doing Atkins!!!! :P Kidding... Just wanted to stop by and wish you good luck! I'm sure there's a sticky saying how to make your ticker. Let me see if I can find it. Here it is: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html (If you are NEW, READ THIS!)

Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"
