| Congratulations on your 12 lb. loss, well done!!!! You keep it up and your success with continue. The way I get around events is by being prepared!!!! I eat before I go to them and in addition to that, I prepare a couple of different dishes that I can eat and bring them along and share them with everyone as else (they always love what I bring). That way, there will for sure be a few dishes there I can eat. Regarding not eating the cake and turning it down....who cares what anyone thinks!!!! It's your right to refuse to eat something and you don't have to explain yourself. Don't feel you need to give in to make your friends, family or anyone else for that matter "feel" happy that you're fitting into their reasons of "why" you should be eating cake. and just say, "no thank you".Welcome to the board!!!! Come here often and read as many posts as you can, post as often as you like (let us know how things are going for you). We're all in this together!! | Welcome aboard Sarina's suggestions are great. I'll add, that if you have to (and there are some overly persistant people out there) tell them you can't have wheat for a month(or whatever) that you are being tested for a wheat allergy. It's funny, in a weird funny kind of way, that if you have medical restrictions, people will leave you alone, but if you're trying to KEEP FROM GETTING any medical conditions, they'll force feed you |

| One thing that really helped me was what someone else posted a few days ago. She said, "You are the only one who controls what goes into your mouth." Such a simple, obvious concept, but for some reason it really stuck with me. As everyone else has said, fill up with legal foods before you go. And taking a couple of plates of legal goodies to share is a wonderful idea. And I have been known to take a couple of legal snack in my purse and if I need to, step outside and eat them. It's a lifesaver! |

| Welcome to the board, Samgirl! I find that most events these days have a big veggie and cheese tray so I just stay away from the 'frankenfoods' and nibble the 'goodies'. I know you will survive without a scratch (or pound). |
