| Hi Geneva, I am completely new to Atkins too and am just at the end of day 3 but I find I am eating alot of vegetables, especially salad. I have had a lovely chicken caesar salad and a huge tuna salad in the past couple of days and feel great and full of energy having got rid of the bloated feeling I had before I started. The Atkins website says that you should eat between 12 and 15 grams of net carbs every day in the form of vegetables. Here is the link to the page I've been using: Acceptable Foods List I hope you feel more energetic soon! |

| Hiya guys! Let's see... Veggies. Yummy. During Induction, you should eat 3 cups of vegetables per day -- max. 1 cup from the "Other Vegetables" list and the rest from the "Salad Vegetables" list. Also, over half of your net carbs should come from vegetables. The 12-15 g net carbs rule is really... umm, how to call it, BS (and I don't mean Bachelor of Science here No, seriously. This is not what Dr. Atkins wrote. The rule was invented by the Atkins company after Dr. Atkins' death and it does not discriminate between different groups of vegetables (with higher and lower glycemic index). For both of you, here are some useful sticky threads on ADBB: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?) http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?) See you around the board and happy low-carbing!

| Adding (that's what happen as you get old): 1. You should be taking at least a multivitamin. 2. Drink a lot of water (64 oz plus 8 oz for every 25 lbs you have to lose). 3. Exercise. Okay, I'll run away now, before I remember something else.

| Hi Geneva (love your name), I just spent ten minutes typing you a post and I've somehow lost it.....I am pulling my hair out... anyways, first things first you are supposed to be having 20g of carbs a day. The energy will come just make sure you're drinking enough water. As for not getting enough nutrients..well i will leave that up to one of the Atkins professors to answer..lol All i can say is that i feel loads better than when i was eating fruits and being bloated all day. Good luck to you and you hubby. The forum is great! You will get alot of support and encouragement from here as well as all your questions answered (Some of the members have grafuated from the the University of Dr Atkins..lol). Ok I better go before i start rambling

| Give the plan a chance the way it was written -- you will be adding berries back soon enough but you need to get rid of the impurities first. Within a few days you will have more energy and will start feeling much better....remember we've all be there before you and we've made it. Make sure you are getting all your carbs in each day, have chicken, beef, fish, whatever you like to eat handy and dunk it in mayo or cream cheese when you need a little extra in the afternoon or evening. Good luck --don't give up!
