| Hi- welcome to the Board! Good job on prepping the meals. Preparation is the key to avoiding failure. I always have something defrosting in the fridge a few days in advance so there's always something for me to cook. Don't sell yourself short on your goal. I'm a little shorter than you, and just past 220 toward my goal of 165. I think when you hit 220 you'll be so pleased with your results/progress that you'll keep going. Plus, if you start using Atkins as a WOE (way of eating) not a WOD (way of dieting), I think you'd continue to still lose below 220 as you go through the rungs of OWL (ongoing weight loss). If you haven't already, you should get the 2002 version of the book and read it. For me, knowing *WHY* something was happening or why it needed to be done was critical to me doing it. As far as timing, everyone is different, so you'll get a bunch of answers. My case is somewhat odd because I have a very low metabolic resistance (which is ironic since knowing I can lose weight fast is one of the reasons I shot up to 240! ("Hey, when I start, I'll lose it quick, so I'll start next week." Slapshot, copyright 2001-2009!) I've lost 25 lbs in a little over a month on Atkins but that's due primarily to: 1. my low metabolic resistance 2. checking in here 10x a day 3. drinking more water than I can stand 4. quitting caffeine/diet coke cold turkey 5. not using any artificial sweeteners, even splenda 6. not getting into the "mock" desserts - I know if I make/find something I like, I'll overeat it. "Dessert" really isn't part of my life. (1 or 2 times a week I might have an Atkins shake at night. No more than 1-2 week) 7. finding a great buffalo wing recipe on youtube (search "atkins buffalo"). 6. exercising 30-45 minutes 5x a week since week 1 Good luck!

| hi nsegal -- your body is different than anyone else's so there is no way to tell how fast or slow you will loose - just know that if you stay true to the plan you will loose in your own time. The "side effects" of this plan are feeling healthier, having more energy, eating food with taste and living life with a new direction. Not bad huh!! Make sure you get your veggies in each day -- you drink AT LEAST 64 ounces of clear water (not tea, soda, kool-aid) and stay away from the shakes and bars - they are known to stall many people are are not on the acceptable food list. Some people use them but it's not part of the 2002 DANDR program we follow here. You need to read the book -- you'll understand the plan and the science behind it much better with the knowledge from the book. Planning is a large part of the program but make sure you eat a variety of different foods so you don't become bored with this WOE. Here are links to recipe sites you can use (induction recipes only until you are off induction) - many of them are easy to make ahead to take for lunches or if you'll be away from home for a few days. Good luck to you -- if you ever need anything all you have to do is ask Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6782 (What are the Rules of Induction?) | Congratulations on cutting out the caffeine and all of your prep work. It makes a tremendous difference when you always have something legal easily available to eat. It sound like you have the attitude for success. Wishing you all the best on your new way of eating! |
