Default Hi Everyone.

Hi everyone, was asked to introduce myself so here goes. I'm a fat and fed up forty something (45 actually). I have been on the Cambridge diet for the last 3 months and admittedly lost a lot of weight but have really missed food. I bought myself the "New Diet Revolution" the other week and thought I would give it a go as I am desperate to eat again.
I am struggling a bit with coming up with new ideas and have looked at the recipe section but being in the UK alot of the ingredients you guys use are not available here, so back to the chicken salad and eggs for breakfast and no desserts!!! Any help from anyone, especially someone in the UK who has managed to eat more than meat, salad and eggs would be great, cos I know this diet is going to work for me as long as I don't get bored.
Thanks Jill x

Welcome, Jill. I am not in the UK, bu I am in The Netherlands and I also do not have access to a lot of things that others do. However, I try to look at the positive side. (not always easy...) We do have great cheese shops here and butchers with awesome cuts of meat. How about in the UK? The Dutch do a great job with a meat and cheese platter and all of the fresh vegetables at market.

welcome to the ADBB. I'm glad you have and are reading the book - hopefully it's the 2002 edition because that's what we use here.

Here are links to recipe sites that have been circulated here -- make sure you are eating only induction recipes to begin with but as you progress up the rungs you'll find many more delicious recipes to choose from. Also make sure you are eating foods only on the acceptable food list - if it's not on that list it doesn't go into your mouth!

Water is very important -- at least 64 ounces of pure water each day - sodas, tea, coffee don't count toward this amount, only pure water. Exercise is mandatory for each of us also - find something you enjoy doing and have fun.

Good luck

Hi Shannon and Carole,
Thanks to both of you and yes I suppose we have great food here in the UK that I can eat on induction especially the Veg and Salad stuff.
Thanks for your help Carole with the links for recipes, also i think the book is 2002, infact yes it is i have just checked on the inside cover and it says first published in the US in 2002 by Avon Books, so looks like I'm reading the right one! Love this site by the way it is an absolute godsend when you are doing the diet alone at home with no other family member to help you.

Thanks
Jill

Welcome to the board, Jill!

There are lots of people here from the UK so you shouldn't have any trouble hooking up with a few of them for recipes and advice on where to find things over there. I'm not sure of all the ingredients in Haggis but I think it should be legal. I loved it when I was there!

One of my favorite recipes is the pizza quiche! Surely you have access to pepperoni and mozzarella cheese there, don't you? Even a little diced pepperoni in an omelet really livens it up.

Good luck to you!

Hi Nyna,
The pizza quiche sounds yummy, we have all those ingredients here. It's just when i read a really gorgeous recipe it then has a brand name that we don't have here, maybe we have something similar but we don't know what it is to fnd our alternative (if you know what i mean!) Anyway I'm coming to Florida in November so will be stocking up on all the brand names that I come across on here! Will just have to keep away from all the gorgeous food you have over there that isn't allowed.
As for the Haggis, I don't think we are allowed that as I'm sure there is alot of offal in it and there is barley too (not actually Scottish myself I'm here as my husband is Scottish and based up here in the RAF). I will try to find out exactly what is in it as a matter of interest.

Thanks for all your help
Jill
