Default Shopping list for Induction

Hey. My name is AJ. I am new to the thread. I have been on another lowcarb thread for a couple years on and off. This is part of my problem... since I am a cronic restarter, I have many bad lowcarb habbits. I really have no idea what a clean induction is right now. I just found my book and am rereading the 12 rules of induction but I just wanted to know if anyone could help with the staples of induction.

Thanks, AJ

I have a low carb cook book ironically called "the low- carb cookbook" by fran mc cullough. There is a great section about how to make your pantry low carb....she actually lists many things such as mayo, bacon bits, sugar free syrups, etc. Things that you wouldnt normally think about until after you start.

Im on induction also, and jello has greatly helped me in the evenings. I have done Atkins 2 times before and I stock the refridge and pantry with pepperoni, string cheese, franks hot sauce, shredded cheddar to make cheese crisps (which are great if you need something crunchy and much better than those nasty pork rinds), I get heavy cream and make whipped cream (with vanilla and splenda) and use it to top my jello sometimes and as a sweetener for my coffee. I was so excited to find out that you can have snow peas as I am not fond of many vegetables. Make sure you get lettuce and things for salad. There are lists in the book as someone above has mentioned....but I have found mostly on induction to just go with plenty of meat and salads. When I get the sweet craving I go to jello and sometimes a spoonful of no sugar added peanut butter (I know its a no no). If you like vegs, you shouldnt really have a hard time, like me

I have some really super recipes if youd like me to send you some! I think that in the atkins book there is a great recipe for "asian skirt steak"...even off the diet I ate it often, and I am not big on steak.

I actually did some stocking up today. My cart included: hamburger, boneless skinless chicken breasts, tilapia, pork chops, cheddar cheese, eggs, heavy whipping cream, and 64 bottles of water. I usually buy only a few days worth of veggies at a time cause I'm not a big veggie person, and can only force down so much A really tasty dish I made the other night - cut up a few chicken breasts into small chunks and cook in a frying pan, pour in some Taco Bell "Restaurant" Sauce (in the tall glass bottle from Wal Mart - 0 carbs, and only $1.07), and mix in some cheddar cheese. YUM!

I LOVE cheese... but I've read that even Atkins suggests a limit of 2 to 4 ounces maximum per day. The best thing about cheese is that it really puts off the hunger pangs for hours and hours.

Someone else mentioned FRANKS hot sauce... which is also great... but way too salty if you're fighting high blood pressure like me. I don't know about its carb content w/o checking, though.

My induction shopping list includes eggs, cheese, beef steaks, hamburger, and fatty fish (salmon).

The fatty stuff fills me up so much that I find I'm ending the day and into the evening at about 500 fewer calories that my body allows for.... but I also increase my calorie expenditure via a 45 minute treadmill which knocks off about 225 calories and pushes my b/p downward.

Yeap, it was me that mentioned Franks hot sauce and it has 0 carbs, I really like franks buffalo sauce on chicken wings...my oh my!

Yes, I do agree cheese is a great staple on the diet. I like to shred some onto a plate and microwave until it gets crispy (soaking up the oil in between cooking times). It makes a great snack that you can dip into something like salsa.

I also dont buy many veggies, they go bad before I eat them...so induction is really boring on my part..I dont eat fish either...and sometimes I am so hungry by dinner.

Those Atkins shake things are ok for all phases and they are a nice change for breakfast...especially when you cant look at another egg...
