| If you eat the way you are supposed to, there is no reason you can't hit a BMI of 22-23.Getting below that will probably require caloric restrictions.I see to often folks who are real heavy who put a goal that is way over their healty weight.I began at nearly 260 and should end in the 180-185 range.Hard to believe when I started out but that is only 15-20 more lbs. Will put me around 23 BMI. |

| See, I've always just though 120 would be a great, healthy weight to be at. It's always been that nice, round number in the back of my mind. If/when I do get to 130/125 and I'm happy with that weight, I'll stop there. I'm not dead set on 120, as I know it may not work for me. I'm 178 right now, but most people tell me I don't look it. I'm thinking 120 might be too small a number because of this, so my goal is up in the air right now. Thanks for all the welcomes! Oh, and I know I could start now, but starting the diet on June 1st gave me time to really research it and set up meal plans. |

| Check out the before and after pics of this thread: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...uring-pix.html (4 months and 36 lbs before and during pix) In one picture, she said she was 165 lbs. I am telling you Jpegg she looked 125 lbs! She said she still needed to lose weight, but I sure did not see where! The case may be the same with you. | Welcome to the board, Jenn! Planning is a big part of success and it's good that you're getting well prepared. Just don't forget that Atkins isn't a quick fix type of diet, it's a lifestyle change and will do wonders for you if you stick to it! Good luck! |

| welcome --- here are some links that will help get you prepared -- remember to eat only foods from the acceptable food list, drink plenty of water and exercise starting day 1!!! Good luck to you. Rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6782 Induction Acceptable Foods List: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6781 Recipe Sites http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html http://www.sugarfreesheila.com/RecipesPage.html (Never ending induction recipes)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/58513-never-ending-induction-recipes.html (Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/6807-induction-recipe-basics-more-recipes-added.html Exercise is not an option – it is mandatory ….. don’t say you can’t --- start today! This is from the "Read before you start" thread in the 14 day Induction area: Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including: Filtered water Mineral water Spring water Tap water Additionally (after your 64 ounces daily), you can have the following: Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label) Club soda Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content) Decaffeinated coffee or tea* Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss) Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame) Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added) Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons *Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine. Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases.
