There isn't such thing as a low fat version of Atkins. I don't say you can't lose weight while eating low carb + low fat, but please don't call that plan Atkins, because it isn't. Atkins is a high fat diet, with about 65% of your Calories coming from fat during the Induction phase. If Atkins is what you want to follow, then read or re-read the book and follow the plan the way Dr. Atkins designed it.

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!" | Welcome to the board, Zarin! I know it's hard to eat high fat after all the years of being told that it's bad for you but trust me, this is the best diet there is! I did Stillman too but it was so limited that it was hard to stick to and he didn't have the rung system that taught you how to stay thin for life. He just said when you gain 5 pounds go back on the diet. Atkins is so much better in that there is variety even in induction and then a plan to keep you thin for the rest of your life. It's the Best!!! Just do it as written and you will be fine! |

| You are way short on fats! First off you need to eat the egg yolks too. Tuna is fine but you should be mixing it with a tablespoon of mayo. Then make sure you put dressing (not low fat) on your salads and butter on your veggies. And cream in your tea, no milk. Not eating the fat is going to leave you drained of energy and your body going into starvation mode and hoarding the fat it has. That's not healthy and it isn't Atkins. Here is a sample day for me on Induction: 2 eggs, 2 slices bacon (you could use cheese or smoked salmon if you dont like bacon) can of tuna with mayo and dill, etc on a bed of lettuce with cucumbers, a bit of onion ounce of cheese or deviled egg for snack 6 ounces meat (you can choose fish but add fats elsewhere) a cup of green veggies with a fat, and more salad with dressing tea or decaf coffee drunk with heavy cream If you use fitday, you can see your food percentages. You need 65% fat in your diet daily. More than half yor carbs should come from veggies. And protein should make up about 30% of your diet. |

| Hi Zee Welcome to ADBB I also saw your post in review my menu. I split it to a separate thread there so go check out what replies you find there too. Stillman's is not meant as a long term diet. I hope you can transition nicely to Atkins. There will be some adjustments. How much are you planning to lose? Good luck

| hi - I don't see any water during the day -- Dr Atkins says to drink a MINIMUM of 64 ounces of water daily - that is pure water, nothing added. Also you need to start some form of exercise from day 1 - whatever you can fit into your day but do something. I would get very bored eating only tuna and egg whites as your protein - is there a reason you don't eat any other protein? How about cheese? Atkins is a very freeing way of eating because there are so many choices we have for meal planning. You need a copy of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) - that is the edition we follow here on this forum. Good luck
