Default Hi all - new here :-) But 2nd time on Atkins

Hi all,

I wanted to be sure to post my intro before going to the other boards! I am new to this site, and on day four of induction. I am having such annoying headaches but thankfully increased water consumption calms them down for a few hours at a time!

I am a 25 year old mom of a 19-month-old little boy! I started my pregnancy at a very healthy weight but completely overindulged and gained about 65 pounds. By the time my son was a few months old I'd lost 40 of it, but I've yet to lose anything since. So... here I am on Atkins. I'm here because I'm tired of being overweight and one of those girls people comment that they gained a lot with their pregnancy or still carrying around the baby weight! I think I used to look pretty good... I miss those days I always thought I'd be the hot young mom... hah, yeah right.

I am sooo lucky my husband is doing Atkins with me. I have tried Weight Watchers recently and it just didn't work. I followed my points guidelines and exercised but I never lost more than a pound a month. It was very frustrating, especially with my husband eating burritos all the time! But, even he realized his health is at stake and it would be good for him to lose some weight.

We started Monday June 1st because it seemed like a perfect start date! It's now day 4 and he's feeling great but I'm headachey.. I think it's carb withdrawls because I'm eating well and yes, eating my veggies and having lots of water

The last time I did Atkins I was 19 and still a self-absorbed teenager thinking I could never possibly be thin enough. I followed the plan for about a month and lost about 10 pounds and back in those days I wore a size 5 or 7. Believe it or not I thought I was fat back then! Now I laugh because I'm a size 14 and I'd love to be that little again. Hopefully I will be someday, but really I just want to be healthier.

Welcome to the board, Sherry!

You 'are' lucky to have your dh doing Atkins with you and I think you will find it to be much better than WW! Congrats on your loss so far.

Welcome Sherri. I did weight watchers with few results and a lot of hunger too. Don't be surprised if your hubby loses a lot faster than you--the guys seem to have an advantage over us when it comes to losing. If you stick to the plan, you will lose the weight. Get the book and read it well and post here often. The board helps motivate and clarify things. I have found it to be the main reason I stay on track.

Welcome Sherry! I feel your pain, but you will fee amazing in no time. Make sure you drink at least 64oz of water every day and get in your supplements.

The people on these boards are absolutely wonderful, supporting, and keep you on track!

The bars!!! I made the mistake of buying them and eating on yesterday out of desperation. I was taking my grandmother grocery shopping and I'm still not feeling quite right yet. I saw them near checkout and bought a box and ate one. After looking on here I see they are not induction friendly - oops. I hope one bar won't undo the past few days?

I do wonder why they say they can be used during all phases of Atkins, yet they really aren't "safe."

Oh well.
