Default Here for weight loss

I really planned to just lurk, but as soon as I signed up, I got a message asking me to introduce myself.
So, here it is:
This is my second time on Atkins. The first time I did this diet -- in 2006, I lost 55 pounds in about 4 months. I went from 212 to 155 in a heartbeat.
When the weight loss slowed to near nothing, I didn't exactly quit, but I got lazy. I quit keeping track of my carbs. I hovered between 155 and 165 for two years, and then the pounds started creeping back on -- largely due to sugary snacks.
I'm on my 9th day of induction. I have no idea if I've lost anything. My clothes feel just as tight and the scale hasn't budged -- although the last time I weighed myself wasn't in an exactly controlled environment. And it was on a friend's scale.
I started doing WW last October and lost 12 pounds in 6 months. I was starving most of the time -- totally obsessed with food -- and that weight loss just wasn't quick enough. At that rate, it would've taken me three years to get down to my goal weight. I've got patience... however.
Then, I switched to all vegetarian and gained five of my 12 pounds back! Who knew you could gain weight eating nothing but veggies and cheese?
So, I'm back on Atkins as of June 8. I'm on a very strictly controlled induction with minimal working out. (I've got bad knees and am having surgery soon.)
I'm terrified to step on the scale, because I don't want to discover I'm not losing anything. That's why I stopped going to WW. What's the point of paying $12 a week to obsess about food, starve inbetween only to show a .3 pound drop every week?
And so I'm back. Praying this thing works, or that it's manageable enough that I can do this for the long haul.
The first few days, I felt tired and naseuated, but that's gone. And for the most part, cravings are too.

Welcome to the boards! The *BEST* thing about atkins is not starving! (oh yeah - and the weight loss ). It took a little while before my pants were noticeably looser - but I got there. I recently had to buy a belt! I find this WOE easy to live with - I hope that you do too.

Adopt this as your permanent life style. Work up through the rungs, and you will never have to worry about it again. I had a very similar experience to yours on WW and am far far happier low carbing. My losses are slow these days but I am still losing.

You probably won't loose as quickly or as easily as you did before...your body is already use to "starving" -- so it will take it awhile to figure out it's getting nutritious food. Don't give up - keep going...you'll see results soon.
