Thumbs up Finally Ready to Lose this Weight!!!

Hello all! My name is Kristen! I am soon to be 38 years old and am about 120 pounds overweight. I have always been afraid to try the Atkins diet in the past because of the fear of my cholesterol skyrocketing. Well, I've decided that staying this much overweight isn't helping my heart any more than lower cholesterol. I'm excited about starting this journey! I have been on it since yesterday and I'm impressed that I haven't even wanted to stray yet! I even lost weight from yesterday to today! It's great!

Kristen, some people see an initial cholesterol increase in the first few months, but as the weight comes off and your blood sugar stabilizes at a much lower level, many people see a significant drop in cholesterol. I am one of them. I credit exercise the most, but the Atkins diet definitely plays its part too. My cholesterol was never sky high--189, but now it is 149 and the good one is high and the bad one is low. Can't ask for more than that.

hi and welcome Kristen -- the best thing you can do (other than being on Atkins) is stay off the scale until the end of induction -- you may change weight several times a day and several times during the week so it's better if you don't become a slave to the scale!

make sure you drink enough pure water daily - you exercise daily and are eating food on the acceptable food list ---- nothing else! Good luck!

Thank you Jill and Carole! I'm already feeling better and have more energy than I have had in a LONG time. I can't believe it's taken me this long to try Dr. Atkin's eating plan!
