| welcome!!!! ![]() First off - you've come to the right place!!!! You will find TONS of support here and will reach your goals - as long as you work towards them. Just remember - as frustrated as you are right now - and you've admitted that you know you need/want to change. The question of "How did I let myself reach this point"...For me, it's the understanding of HOW did I get to my highest weight? What was I eating/doing to get to that point? Once you really sit and have a heart to heart with yourself and realize that all those sugary foods - junk foods - processed foods, etc..etc...is what got you there then you will realize that making the choice of following the atkins way of life (healthy fats, unprocessed foods, WHOLE foods) is what will get you healthy, happy and to your ideal weight. Get and read the book - there's a ton of answers in there as well as the plan on how atkins truly works. Once you know how it works - you'll know what you need to do to succeed and truly change your lifestyle for the better. This really is the absolute best way to "re-invent" yourself. Whole - unprocessed - no sugar foods is the way our bodies were meant to live. Always remember - when you're craving to reach for something that you know you shouldn't - that that was what got you to where you were in the first place and that it's NOT worth it. Also remember that you ARE worth it and your body is CRAVING the healthy nourishing whole foods this program will re-teach you to eat. Sugar is like rat poison and there's SO many LEGAL foods out there you should be eating that are actually better than those foods you used to eat. Here's a great recipe site to get you started: Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home GOOD LUCK!

| I bet there are more of us with that "mirror moment" you described than those without it here on this site. There has to be a stopping point that shocks us into deciding it's time to do something. Believe me, the older you get the harder it is to face the mirror on a daily basis so many of us avoid it all together and when we do finally actually see ourselves it's quite a shock. First of all, get out of your funk -- the problem you have is cureable, it is something that only YOU can accomplish. All of us are here to help you but you have to do the work - we are here to guide. This has to be a life change for you, Atkins isn't a fad diet to drop 10 - 20 - 30 pounds, it's a way of eating for a lifetime. It's hard work, I'm not going to lie to you, once you get through 2 weeks of a clean induction you can start adding foods back into your life and before you know it you'll be at your goal. Good luck to you! Here is some info to help get you sstarted: *Before you start take your measurements and get on the scale so you have accurate numbers to start with - don't weigh again until the end of induction - there are too many variables daily and hourly that can cause your weight to change, so weighing at the end of induction is what Dr. Atkins suggested. *Eat a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables. Also make sure you get your fats, carbs and protein in daily. *Drink 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added ***– see below for more info). *Take your supplements and exercise *Stay away from the shakes and bars (they aren’t legal on induction) and any processed or chemically enhanced foods – we eat whole foods. Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of this page – it’s a condensed version of the DANDR book. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/ Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including: Filtered water Mineral water Spring water Tap water *** Crystal Lite, sugar free teas, sugar free kool-aid & diet sodas do not count they are chemically enhanced and most include aspartame (also not allowed on Atkins) – PURE water is the only thing that counts toward your daily water intake. If you need a “flavor” in your water float a lemon or lime slice on top of your water The recipe sites are a helpful way to make your meals more enjoyable – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. Good luck.

| For me it was a photo but same kind of revelation. The first Induction I lost about 10 pounds. But this year when I restarted I was older and hormonally challenged and I was lucky to get 5 off. |
