| Hi and welcome to ADBB. We follow the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) I hope that's the edition you have. Since you don't have that much to loose don't stay on extended induction too long -- you'll need time to go through the rungs slowly to find the foods you can and can't eat after you get to the maintenance portion of the plan. Don't forget to eat your veggies and get enough fat! If you need anything we’re here to help you!! The moderators are excellent sources of anything and everything Atkins and they enjoy helping everyone. Good luck to you!

| I just checked and it looks like I do have the 2002 copy. I remember thinking it was a little different than the previous version I had read, kind of new and improved. So you don't recommend for me to be on induction too long? Well, maybe I will do a month of induction and then go on to phase 2 from there. Thanks for the advice.

| Hi Nick, the OWL rungs will teach you how your body reacts to each food as you reintroduce it. This process takes time if done right and gives you your blueprint of things to eat/avoid in maintenance as you go. Also many people find that they get stuck in Induction and the weight loss slows to a crawl. OWL often shakes things up and gets the weight loss moving again. It also adds nutrients and fiber back with each rung so that it is easier to meet your daily needs. Having said that, I think a month on Induction will be fine. We usually recommend OWL because many folks stay on Induction far too long and when they get close to goal they havent learned how to maintain. They usually end up back here having regained the weight. |
