| You should be eating carbs....which edition of Dr Atkins books are you reading? Day 3 isn't the magical day everyone goes into keotsis -- it varies from person to person. Pain relievers can be used to get rid of the headaches We follow the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) it would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to. At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - (If you are NEW, READ THIS!)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/spotlight-introduce-yourself/60133-if-you-new-read.html Make a copy of this list: (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Make sure you don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”). We count "net carbs" (carb minus fiber = net carbs) – you can keep track of your daily food on FitDay or another program. The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html (Linda’s) (Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/58513-never-ending-induction-recipes.html (Induction recipes) (Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/6807-induction-recipe-basics-more-recipes-added.html (Induction Recipe Basics) If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you! .

| Hello Yanto. Cheer up you should be feeling better soon! Atkins challenged all the conventional "wisdom" of his day and as time passes more and more of what he theorized happens with our weight, cholesterol, blood sugar, etc seems to be proven to be true. Seems like the medical community is always the worst skeptics in evaluating their own. |

| Thank you both for your words of support. Today (Day five) I feel much, much better, still have a bit of headache but much less so and I don't feel anywhere near as tired, in fact about normal if not better than a pre-atkins Friday. Carole, thanks for the links. I have been reading the DANDR 2003 (UK Edition). I made an error saying I had not been eating carbs, what I meant was I have not eaten any refined sugars, starches or any fruit. I have been eating my (allowed) veg! I have stuck fairly rigidly to the list of banned and allowed foods and I have avoided processed stuff altogether. I am perhaps eating everything in slightly larger quantities than others because I have a very active lifestyle, and he says you should eat if you are hungry. Saying that my appetite has diminished today. |
