| Hi Paul -- I'm glad you have the book - I hope it's the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book if you need to refer while online (If you are NEW, READ THIS!)www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/spotlight-introduce-yourself/60133-if-you-new-read.html. Are you Type 1 or Type 2 diabetic? There is a diabetic forum here, not many use it but hopefully the more diabetics on the board we may get something going over there! If nothing else it's a good place to post what is going on with you. Make a copy of this list: (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Make sure you don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”). We count "net carbs" (carb minus fiber = net carbs) – you can keep track of your daily food on FitDay or another program. The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html (Linda’s) (Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/58513-never-ending-induction-recipes.html (Induction recipes) (Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/6807-induction-recipe-basics-more-recipes-added.html (Induction Recipe Basics) If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

| Hi Paul, because you are losing so quickly, I suggest you move to OWL and start incorporating new foods into your life. This is the most important stage of Atkins because you learn how to maintain successfully by finding out the foods that trigger gains and stalls. You also learn the portion controls that will serve you later. It sounds like you are doing very well so far and this is a great lifestyle for anyone with diabetes. Well done! |

| Thanks for the tip, I lost about 4kg on other methods and about 5-6kg after starting Atkins for 2 weks, that is why I said 10kg, but not all due to Atkins. I am meeting a crossroads as to wether I go on extended induction for another 2 weeks or not, I will decide that in a day or two, but I will read up more on OWL. Thanks for input Paul |

I agree with Jill --- I'd move to OWL and start adding things back. You don't have that much left to loose and you'll need time to add things back in so you'll know which foods are ok for you and which may give you trouble...but of course, it is your decision!
