| Welcome and goodluck! I just joined today and i'll be starting my induction phase today as well! I used to smoke cigarettes and I know how it is. I went cold turkey maybe 2 months ago. Only because I end up in the hospital from my lungs imflamming and panic attacks. BUT I KNOW that with determination and the right help and motivation that you can kick the habit if you desire to! Im rooting for you and that the weight will come off! Have you been exercising and strength training? it may help!

| Thank you! I apreciate that. I have been poking around at this board for a few weeks now and its actually kinda nice to have some suggestions. I started two weeks ago, Sunday will make three. I havent cheated yet, maybe a few nuts here and there but have stuck by pretty close. Induction flu was no fun but once its gone, you just cant believe how much easier everything is. However, if I could do anything at all, it may mean that your right, and I need to get more exercise. I havent done much of that, so that is my next task for the week. Thanks again for your suggestion and I am looking forward to see you accomplish yours as well. |

| Hi gretchie -- It's hard to see what the problem with you not loosing weight because you don't post your beginning/current/goal weights --- If you post a few days of your menu's on the Review My Menu section (http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/review-my-menu/) someone may be able to help find something that you are missing - we all need help in the beginning. When you post what you've been eating give specifics - the size of whatever you eat and everything you put in your mouth. I quit cigarettes 3 years ago (July 4th) cold turkey - gained about 10 - 15 pounds and decided to start Atkins after researching the plan for a month. I decided when I quit that was it - I had smoked 3+ packs a day for the better part of 30 years....(a pack less for about 5 - 7 years before that). I was tired of coughing, smelling bad, feeling like crap and having blotchy skin where the nicotine was coming through my pores. The first few days weren't too much fun but after I got the nicotine out of my system I was ok. I don't miss cigarettes but when I smell someone who is smoking it brings back a lot of memories (some good, some not so great). The first few days of Atkins were the same as stopping smoking -- not great but it could have been much worse. Don't give up -- make sure you are following the plan the way it was written, start exercising, drink a minimum 64oz pure water (nothing added) -- you'll be at your goal before you know it.

Congrats on your AWESOME 3 Pound loss & Keep up the GREAT Work!!! ![]() Please remember the BEST Induction is a CLEAN Induction ANY CHEAT NO MATTER HOW SMALL will set you back!!! Even a few NUTS during Induction which ARE NOT ALLOWED & will make a DIFFERENCE!!! I spent a full year "2008" trying "Everything Under TheSun" to loose weight (But The Atkins Program ) & I only lost 18 pounds by yrs end !!! The only other thing I had to show for it was my Blood Pressure & Blood Sugar Levels were through the roof !!! The wonderful folks I surround myself here on "ADBB" daily have given me the strength to loose 50 pounds & 8 clothing sizes in the last 8 months since 1/1/09 !!! I can Thankfully say that since 5/15/09 Iam now off my High Blood Pressure & Type II Diabetes Meds !!! We have have alot going on around here 24/7 it may be sharing our stories or giving & reciving information & we have a lot of fun in the process !!! | Congratulations on quitting smoking! That was one of the toughest things I ever did! The good thing is that if you only recently put the weight on it is more likely to come off more easily. This plan does work. The one thing to watch is that giving up smoking leaves your mouth with nothing to do and at the same time stuff tastes better. A bad combo. Sounds like you are on your way to turning the trend around so good for you! |

| Exactly,.. CONGRATS ON QUITTING SMOKING!! Luckily, ive never had that addiction, but I've known people who do... but.. I can also relate on wanting to lose weight by your 30th bday, as mine is right around the corner too... Keep up with it.. get your self into a routine and DONT GIVE UP! BE STRONG! YOU CAN DO IT! |
