Default new to the board, not new to Atkins..

Hi I have done atkins with good success a few years ago, then fell off the bandwagon...

I desperately need to get some weight off and today has given me some inspiration to start atkins again.

I have heard that 2nd time around it isnt as successful.

I am a little concerned re the no alcohol in the induction faze, as I am quite partial to a glass or 2 of red wine with my dinner.

Welcome to the board, mavi!

You already know that Atkins works if you work the plan. Remember that induction is only for 2 weeks and it's vital that you do it exactly as written to get your body back to burning fat.

Alcohol interfers with the process but it is allowed back into the diet in phase 5 so it's just for the short term. If you're like me, once you're allowed it again, you wouldn't want it anymore because it just isn't worth it.

Hi and welcome back –

Don’t compare what you lost or how you did “the last time” your body and lifestyle isn’t the same as last time – follow the plan the way it is written, exercise, drink plenty of pure water (64 ounces minimum daily – nothing added) and you’ll be on your way to loosing before you know it. It's not that Atkins isn't as successful -- many people find they don't loose as much weight durinng the induction phase as they did the first time - if you follow the plan the way it's written you WILL be successful.

As far as alcohol, as you were told before you will be able to add it back later - loosing weight is more important than a couple glasses of wine with your dinner - and soon enough you can drink - Rung 5.

At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html. Hopefully you have a copy of the book and have readit -- if not it would be to your advantage to do so.

Make a copy of this list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).
