Cool 3 weeks in and??

Over the years I have read many forums, but this is the first one I ever contributed to.
I have been doing the induction phase for almost 4 weeks. I noticed some significant weight loss(12 lbs.) early on in the induction phase, but things have been "stalled?" for over a week. I am not taking measurements, but I can not walk by my scale without stepping on. I recently bought some ketone test strips, and after 3 days they still show no color change. This board has infinite information, glad I found you all!

I found that I lost about fifteen pounds quickly and then it slowed and stopped for a period of time. I continued because I knew that I felt better. I increased my walking mileage. After about three weeks, I lost another ten pounds over the next two to three weeks. We have to trust our bodies and remember that our excess weight did not come on all at once either.

I hope that this helps, although it is nothing that you don't already know. Stick with it.

Mick

A "pause" is common after the 14-day induction. This is called PISS (Post-induction-stall-syndrome) nice acronym eh?. FYI - A stall is defined in DANDR as 4 consecutive weeks with no weight loss and no inches lost...

You are very close to goal and should move on to OWL...you need time to climb the carb ladder and learn what foods you can tolerate. Many people who stall or pause after induction lose better on OWL Rung 1 than on extended induction.

As far as the scale goes...put the metal monster away! Weighing once a week is plenty Weight fluctuates from hour-to-hour and day-to-day - it is best to weigh at the same time of day, on the same scale each time.

Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL) - Atkins Diet

I agree with Julie, it's time for you to move on to OWL and start adding back foods in your daily meals. The first rung is 5 additional net carbs of veggies - when I first started I stayed on extended induction too long and the weight stopping coming off. I talked to a couple of the moderators and was told to move on -- I did -- and the weight started coming off again.

How much pure water do you drink daily? I drink between 120 and 150 ounces of pure water daily and have never shown any color on the keotsis sticks. The way I know I'm in keotsis is a slightly fruity taste in my mouth (some call it a dirty taste), bubbles in my urine and a strong odor, and I'm loosing inches even when I don't loose pounds.

I would suggest you take your measurements now so you know when the inches are coming off -- and as far as the scale, it does no good to get on the scale everytime you walk past. Make it once a week or if you can't go that long -- then try once a day.

Good luck to you.
