Smile One week on Atkins and loving it

I found this board while looking for lc success stories. I love to look at the before and after pictures. They really give me encouragement.

I am retired and soon to be a new grandmother. I want to be able to run around with my new grandchild . It would be almost impossible for me to be doing anything like that at this weight.

My long term goal is to get down to 150 lbs but since it seems like such a large amount of weight to be lost, I have set my mini goal at 199.

After one week on this woe I have lost 5.4 lbs! My sugar cravings stopped a couple of days ago. What is bothering me is I cant seem to get that low fat monkey off my back! After dinner last night I was kind of down because I had eaten some cauliflower with a cheese sauce made from 2 tbsp of whipping cream and some shredded cheese. All allowed on induction. It took me a while to realize that I hadnt cheated!

Gotta love this woe

Good Luck!! and congrats on the upcoming arrival of your grandbaby!! Its great to set a goal that sounds more obtainable to you. Nothing worse than starting something you can't really see yourself doing and trying to stick with it. You're gonna do great, you have the best motivation of all k, thats the scariest baby I've ever seen

Welcome to the Atkins Board Gwendolyn.

It does take a little while to figure out the way we eat is healthy and good for us -- we've heard the opposite for so long. I hope you’ve read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR), it’s the book we follow on this bulletin board. If you haven’t until you can get a copy you’ll fina a condensed version at the top of the induction -
(Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)(Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin. Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – there is something for everyone

Make a copy of this list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

Thanks everyone for all the wonderful support!

I cant wait for my grandchild. We were told it is a boy but they are not always accurate so we are buying neutral colours for now! My daughter is due on the 14th of September.

I found a copy of DANDR 2002 version at Value Village. I was looking through the book section when I spotted it. I picked it up and started reading. I realized this was something that was doable. And so the journey began!
