| Hi John - I'm Type 2 also --- my numbers have come down from the high 100's to right around 100 or just below daily. What meds do you take? Diabetes meds can cause you to loose slower but don't let it get you down - Atkins is such a great way of eating and the health benefits are tremendous! Here's a little info to help get you started. Get a copy of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) and read it -- the information is invaluable! Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin. Eat the foods on the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and find delicious recipes here: just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html (Linda’s) (Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/58513-never-ending-induction-recipes.html (Induction recipes) (Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/6807-induction-recipe-basics-more-recipes-added.html (Induction Recipe Basics) If you need anything we’re here to help you!! There is a diabetes forum but it's not real active. Good luck to you!

| HI and thanks! I am on Meformin 500 mg twice daily but I know that is going to change. I will see my doctor this week and I know he is not happy. I tested my blood sugar on wednesday and it was 274!! I immediately slowed down on the carbs. Anyway, I hope I can do this. As you are aware, carbs are satisfying and hard to give up. I know that low carb is the only way to get my sugar under control. Wish me luck as I will need it. |

| After the first few days -- when you are getting your body into keotsis -- you won't believe how easy it is to eat this way .... your sugar levels will go down (not too drastically but they will go down with the weight loss) ... how wonderful everything tastes ... and how the weight will fall off. Men tend to loose faster and easier than women (yea you...lol) so hopefully you won't have the same slow weight loss I've been experiencing. Good luck!!

| Hey John -- Just a hint. Make up a menu for the first few days and stick with it. It's easier to stay on plan when you have planning behind you. Eat vegetables throughout your day - add a few for breakfast (peppers and a little green onion in your eggs)....have more during lunch and more at dinner. Eat something other than iceberg lettuce -- there is no nutrition in it and doesn't keep you full very long. Try romaine or another salad green off the first vegetable list. You need 2 cups of salad greens and 1 cup from the "other" vegetable list daily. The other list has more carbs but they will help you feel full and keep you regular. Have you heard about www.fitday.com ? It's a good way to keep track of what you are eating and will help keep you on track with your carbs. It takes a little getting use to it (put your food is as raw - then add spices, oils, etc so your numbers are more true) but once you do get it down it's a great tool. There are plenty of men here who will give you tips -- some area good tips and others...well....... If you have any questions let me know.
