| Welcome back – I am a Type 2 diabetic that has gone from an A1C of 10.3 in January to 5.0 two months ago when I saw my endocirnologist. I'm hoping to be taken off my meds when I go see her again next week. I've done this by following the plan the way it is written – hopefully you have a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR). Start exercising right away, drink plenty of pure water (64 ounces minimum daily – nothing added) and you’ll be on your way to loosing before you know it – don’t forget to get all your vegetables in daily! At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html. Make a copy of this list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html - take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”). Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support. Check the stickies at the top of the induction forum to refresh your memory on the plan. | Welcome back! There's nothing like bad news from the doctor to motivate us into action. Congrats on taking charge of your health and not letting them scare you into all the drugs with all their side effects. I hope you show them they were wrong! Good luck! |

| Thanks, yes it was pretty scary, but in reality, I think I knew it was coming. He said that if I was on the cholesterol meds that I couldn't even think about having any more kids. We are not sure if we are done yet with having kids or not, so that in itself scared me. But also the thought of not being there for my kids' future, college, weddings, babies, etc. I have roles in my life that I need to fill, so I am taking charge and moving forward!!!!
