| Welcome Jessaira -- To answer your question -- yes avoid the shakes (and bars) - they are not made with ingredients on the acceptable food list so they are not allowed on induction. Since you don't have much to loose once you get through your 2 week induction you should go on to OWL and start adding foods back to your daily eating. You don't say which books you read - the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR), is the book we follow on this bulletin board. You should record your food on www.fitday.com or some other free program - remember to subtract fiber from your food and count "net carbs" only. Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR). Eat the foods on the acceptable food list and find delicious recipes here: just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html (Linda’s) (Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/58513-never-ending-induction-recipes.html (Induction recipes) (Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/6807-induction-recipe-basics-more-recipes-added.html (Induction Recipe Basics) If you need anything we’re here to help you!! | Hi Jessica, Welcome. Glad you have read those books that will really help you. You've lost 5 lbs already. That is great. I agree the shakes can be problematic for some so better safe than sorry and just use them for emergency. Other than that I suggest follow the rules. And when I say follow, if mean FOLLOW
