Default Introduction

Hi everyone

My name is Jessaira I just joined the group. I started the induction after reading 2 books on this diet I started on Sunday, September 13, 2009. I did my groceries and I'm now checking the board with extra information. I think one of the days I did a bit more than 20 carbs maybe a couple more I'm not writing them down maybe I should.

So far I lost 5 pounds. My goal is to be in 110. I'm one of those that are always in the ups and downs. I was 116 on December 2008 when I got married but changed eating habits once again and the gym I used to go closed so I kind off let go of everything and weighted 144 when I started. I don't know how I let this happen but is a reality and I have to face it now. I'm petite and the recommended weight for my height is 108 or around that I just don't see me in that weight but if I look healthy I'll shoot for that.

I loved how I looked when I was in 116 so if I even get there in a short time I will be so glad!! That's 28 pounds but for my recommended weight will be a long 36 pounds. I still haven't had any cravings and I cook for my 2 year and my husband normal food with the meat I cook for me and does not kill me to cook it. LOL. The only thing is that I doesn't know if is to taste because I don't taste it.

I don't think this will be a long journey as last time I was weighting the same it took me about 4 months to loose all the extras I just need to keep the good work and I definitevely love that I'm aware of those carbs!

I bought the atkins shake (strawberry, vanilla) and drink half of one before going to sleep. That takes away my habit of drinking milk.

Any recommendations! should I avoid this shakes?

Thanks!

Jessaira

Welcome Jessaira --
To answer your question -- yes avoid the shakes (and bars) - they are not made with ingredients on the acceptable food list so they are not allowed on induction. Since you don't have much to loose once you get through your 2 week induction you should go on to OWL and start adding foods back to your daily eating.

You don't say which books you read - the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR), is the book we follow on this bulletin board.

You should record your food on www.fitday.com or some other free program - remember to subtract fiber from your food and count "net carbs" only. Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR).

Eat the foods on the acceptable food list and find delicious recipes here: just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Hi Jessica,
Welcome.
Glad you have read those books that will really help you. You've lost 5 lbs already. That is great.
I agree the shakes can be problematic for some so better safe than sorry and just use them for emergency. Other than that I suggest follow the rules. And when I say follow, if mean FOLLOW And check in here for motivation and sharing.
