| hi Linda - that's exactly when I started..when I was approaching 50 at my highest weight ever! Now, even tho I've only lost 20, it's a big 20 for me...I feel so much better! I'm encouraged every day to keep going, by the way I look and by the way I feel. You won't be sorry - and don't be scared. Be patient, believe in yourself. You can do it!

| Welcome to the Atkins Board. Getting rid of your extra weight will be a great way to ring in your birthday! I'm over 50 so I understand what you mean about wanting to be proud of yourself .... Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and take a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR). The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - eat enough vegetables - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Many of us use www.Fitday.com to track our food so we know what our carb totals are for the day. It's important you know what you are eating and how many carbs you are taking in each day.
