Default Doing Atkins... again.

I just found this site, but this is my #th time doing Atkins. Every time I'm on the diet, I loose about 20 lbs, then plateau and stop. Sometimes I gain a few back (usually), sometimes I don't. Either way, I find this to be the fastest, and one of the easiest, ways to loose weight... when I stick to it. Since 2002, I've gone from my biggest at 220 lbs to my current weight at 168. My goal is a healthy 140.

Anyway, we're about to head into the holiday season and I thought it'd be a good idea to start back on the diet. That way, I'll go -10 instead of +15!

This is a good time to be vigilant about what you eat. But it can be hard. So planning is a big thing.
I just went through Canadian Thanksgiving and that went OK.
Hope you will lose fine this time too.
Maybe work on some On going weightloss and see if adding more carb helps you stick to it longer and maintain easier.

Welcome back. I know it is hard to stick with it during those plateaus but that's what will eventually get you where you want to be.

Hi and welcome back to Atkins --

Regardless of what you did before, or what people are doing now it’s best not to compare - just follow the plan the way it's written. Look around and find what interests you and join in. Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support. Also remember, Atkins is a lifetime eating plan, not a “quick fix diet”.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Get enough pure water in daily (64oz is recommended), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin.

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback and tips! It helps that my hubby decided to make this change as well (he actually started before me) and I saw how well it works for him.

I've set my first mini-goal (which is something I'd never done before). I'd like to see 160 by Halloween. Carole, I love the quote!

Day 3, down 3 lbs

Wow! I just used www.fitday.com for the first time. These tools really help!

It's really an eye opener seeing how many calories/carbs are in what I ate today. That Breve latte really tipped me over my allowed carbs.

Good Luck! You sound motivated and I'm sure you'll do well. I also have been on Atkins so many times and got discouraged at long plateaus, but speaking from experience whenever holidays would be looming ahead or celebrations like weddings, parties, formal dinners ...they seem to arrive in clumps i would usually go back to Atkins to rebalance my sugar craving level and keep me on track just enough to stay around the same weight and it usually worked. Of course this is not the right way to do Atkins - I hope to really really really see it thru to the end this time and stay clean - so far so good. I'm sure you will too.

See you at GoAL!

Those lattes are evil (you can ask for one with full cream - but it will be very filling - better than carbs though - The expresso is really good at starbucks (I think )
