| >>any tips for mashed potato and muesli cravings gratefully recieved.>> Cauliflower is the usual potato substitute. It can be mashed, roasted, baked, etc. You can check here for ways to make it: Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Side Dish Recipes I've never had a muesli craving, so can't help you there.

| Day 6 is great - and losses are wonderful. Congratulations. I think what helps me stick to it is that I understand that certain foods are like poison in my system - all they do is trigger responses that make me fatter and make me eat more. I know this is true because having really been off them for so long and them tried some of them in moderation I know what power they have. I have embraced low carb and high fats. And I believe in them. Not only do they show result but they have stabilized my eating in a way no grain could every do before. I hope you can find your strength there. Keep up the good work

| Warm welcome aboard and thanks for telling us your story... in such a witty way, I might add. Keep a high fat snack handy for when the cravings hit. That really helps. It could be leftover cold meat, cheese, avocado, or... you could always be uber daring and convert your single afternoon olive into two!! Happy losing!

| Thanks Liv. I think that is so right. The carb foods you think you need can leave you feeling edgy, bloated and hungry for more. I'm finding it hard to get my head around but the Atkins does seem to stabilise hunger most of the time in a way that jacket potatoes and bread rolls just don't. Are you still feeling well and good after 2 years of this approach? |

| Hmmm Thank you AtkinsGal08. Mashed cauliflower does sound v. tempting - and with butter too. I shall try it with tomorrow's roast chicken. I notice you have been here for a couple of years. Did you find the atkins really helped? |

| >>Did you find the atkins really helped?>> Well, I've been on maintenance for 4+ years, so I would say that yes, it has helped.
