Smile Newbie, but not so new...

I tried the Atkins Diet long time ago when it first came out, and it gave me headaches. Or at least, my lack of certain vitamins, or water gave me headaches. So I stopped.

Well, im back. Im back for a few reasons, but the biggest is that i am at least 40lbs overweight, and according to my doc, i am getting close to borderline diabetic. He told me to stop eating the carbs, turn up the protein. He also said turn up the water, and get off my fat rear end.

So, here I am. I have several things going for me with this diet thing. I also just started my adderall for my adhd again. It tears the weight off of me anyways, but the atkins will really help too.

I look forward to speaking with all of you as Im sure I will need the help that you all will im sure give. Thanks for letting me join your great site!

The first 3 or 4 days you may see those headaches again as your body undergoes the Induction Flu. Be prepared and stay hydrated. Then it should pass. Most of my headaches are hydration related so you have a valid point there with the water and vitamins. Sounds like you are better prepared this time. Wishing you Induction success!

Welcome to the Atkins Board.

I hope you already have the 2002 DANDR book and have read it, it is the edition we follow on this site. If not it's worth a few dollars to purchase. Get enough pure water in daily (64oz is recommended), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin.

Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html). It's vital you get enough vegetables in while following Atkins -- it's not a protein only way of eating 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily.

The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out!
