Welcome, DJ,

Have you read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)?

It's important that you eat ONLY from the List of Acceptable Foods for Induction and that you follow the Rules of Induction in Chapter 11.

Here's a link to the acceptable foods:

http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...nduction.html# (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)

Other information can be found in this forums FAQ section, but they are no substitute for reading the book.

DJ, Atkins is more than just a list of foods. Highly recommend you get the book and read it as J suggests.

The FAQ's are a good way to get started until you can get a copy of the book...by not reading it you aren't using all the information you can to help you get to your goal.

Also, 30 pounds by Christmas is a nice goal, but are you going to stop when you get to your goal or are you going to continue on Maintenance? Atkins isn't a fad or crash diet -- it's a way of eating for a lifetime.

Make sure you are eating the proper foods in the amounts stated, exercising, taking supplements outlined in the book and drinking a MINIMUM of 64 ounces of pure water daily.

DJB,

Not to discourage you, however, many people find that having a goal of X pounds by Y date is counter-productive. There's 62 days from today until Christmas ... so that's .48 pounds per day that you need to lose. While it might be achievable ... how will you feel if you lose 20? or 15?

If you make your "goal" to be something such as eating on plan every day, then the weight loss (whatever it is!) will be the pleasant side effect to becoming healthy ... and that should be your real goal.

You don't have to wait until tomorrow to have a new start ... you can do that right now.

good point ill start now

with regards to my goal of 30lbs before xmas,i think i have set my sights fair to myself,as i will be taking up bodybuilding also (which i start training tomorrow) and various bodybuilders at the gym have told me i would more than likely loose more weight so 30lbs will do me for now...

i know some people on here will say bodybuilding puts on weight with the extra muscle but there is alot of bodybuilders use the atkins diet so with using this site and guys at the gym i know i can get good advice...
