Default hello! im new and vegetarian

hey im sarah. im new to this like a few days old. any way, i lost a lot of weight at the start of the year and i decided i want to get into nutrition and ive been learning a ton about it since i lost weight. i have lost about 70 lbs and i keep losing it.
i thought atkins could help me control my carbs. i have a problem with carbs i them too much and i know what the pit falls of a high carb diet can do to one.
i changed my diet drastically and i lost 40 lbs alone. i added exercise and lost the rest of it.
from this site i would like to:
1) lose weight
2) find people who are like me (success stories, vegetarian and history)
3) get more support
4) and learn new things

when i decided to lose weight i was 280 lbs. i hated my life. i was fat, i hated my fiance, i hated where i lived, i hated not being in school, i hated my job too.
i knew the only one who could change it is me.
in january of 09 i got rid of all the misery in my life. new fiance, new job, school, and new place to live. i lost a ton of weight.
i owe a lot of this success to being happy, my support here my friends and family and juan (fiance) and learning not only about food but about the psychology behind obesity and food adictions.
i love my life now and i would like to keep losing the weight. i am only 50 lbs away from my goal weight. when i started this endevor i was saying i have to lose 120 lbs. now i can say only 50 more to go. im so proud of myself and i hope that i can get the rest of it off. good luck to all of you and thanks for being so hospitable

Hi Sarah, Atkins is a pretty tough program to do as a vegetarian. May I ask why you are switching to Atkins when you have been so successful on your current program? If it is the carb cravings, what is your current diet like? Maybe you just need to switch to low glycemic carbs and less processed food. I am assuming you eat eggs and dairy, correct?

Welcome Sarah! Nice that you found us here. I hope we can help you and that you decide you can follow the plan without too much difficulty.

Although it is not the easiest programme to follow as a vegetarian, there are some who do follow Atkins successfully. Sorry, I'm not very knowledgeable about vegetarianism, but I think the "challenges" are fewer if you are not too stringent in your approach. Do you eat eggs for instance? Seafood? If you do, then you're off to a good start.

Here's to you achieving your goals with Atkins!

Hi and welcome --

It's best you read the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) book so you understand what the Atkins plan is all about. Check the links provided above for help with the way you eat. Good luck to you.
