| What didn't you follow properly? Are you eating ONLY from the list of Acceptable foods? Are you drinking all your water?

| Hi! You and I are in a similar weight range and want to lose about the same amount of weight. I'm on week 2 of Induction (though I did Atkins successfully in 2003 so I am familiar with the plan) and plan on doing extended Induction for at 6 weeks. I have a mini-goal of losing another 10 pounds before November 27th, which is my 10 year high school reunion, so I am going to move to OWL after that event. If you'd like to be "diet buddies" I'd love to do that. So far I'm doing well, but it's nice to have someone to be accountable to, right? I wish you the best of luck! Try googling "Linda's Low Carb" and checking out her Induction menus and recipes, it will help keep your diet varied so that you don't get bored. Also, I have found that if I skimp on my water then I lose more slowly. I often get a good loss on the scale if I drink enough water!

| Since you don't have much weight to loose it's best to get through your 2 week induction cleanly -- then move on to OWL. You need time to go through OWL slowly so you'll realize the foods that bother you and ones you can eat without incident. Staying on extended induction can actually work against you -- many people will tell you they were on induction for a long time and continued to loose but many of us (myself included) stopped loosing weight after a couple weeks on extended induction. Atkins isn't JUST induction then maintenance.....OWL is probably more important than any other stage of the Atkins plan. Get enough pure water in daily (64oz is recommended), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin. The new challenges will be starting in the next few days -- check them out and join a couple that interest you. Don't forget to eat enough vegetables (check the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html) - 2 cups from the first list and 1 cup from the 2nd list daily. Rules of Induction: (What are the Rules of Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?) The recipe sites will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- check them out! | Oh u guys are fantastic! This is why I think it didnt work first time... this time.. 1) Ate too much cheese NO CHEESE 2) Not nearly enough water 2litres of water 3) ate the atkins bars, probably too many NO BARS Just finished day 1.Please comment on my meal plan......By the way EVEWASFRAMED,we can certainly share our experience!! Is it alright to use mayo and how much a day? This is my current eating plan, 3 eggs fried in butter + 1/4 avocado 2 tablespoons of mayo(full fat) 10oz sirloin teak grilled + 2 tablepoons mayo +cup of salad veg (lettuce, red onions, cucumber) 3 boiled egg yorks + 5oz salmon grilled in butter + corned beef fried with a handful of greens I will probably measure the beef 2morrow 2litres water I am a little worried about salt consumption............so probably will try not add salt to cooked food but add it while cooking. Thanks (Is there anything else I can change or do to maximise results) |

| Spartanqueen, don't give up cheese comletely! I think the book says no more than 4 oz, but keep it at 2, you should be ok. For me, the bars stall me out if I eat too many. Don't eat one every day! The official Atkins site recommends no more than 2 products per day, but then they are selling the products. I think as few products as possible, if any, during Induction, is the way to go. A shake 2-3 times a week for breakfast was OK for me--I started having problems with egg, so I'd make ham/swiss cheese roll-ups the night before. You take a slice of lunch ham (read the labels--no "honey ham") and pu 1/3 slice of swiss on one end, and roll it up like a burrito. I'd make 3 of those, eat them in the morning. If you crave sweets, remember you are trying to break that craving. It is very hard to do. When I moved into OWL, I would have a cup of no-carb herbal tea at night with one hershey's sugar-free dark chocolate (the 1-inch squares). It helped with sweet cravings, and that one little square was enough. I'd eat it like 3 molecules at a time---just enough in a bite to spread the taste on my tongue. It made it easier for me to resist the holiday goodies--knowing I had "dessert"waiting for me. Also----Sugar-free jello, with a tsp of heavy cream on it. Those 2 things kept me out of the cookies for years. |
