Default should we still be cleaning out old PMs, tracked messages etc?

I know we now have way more "room" then on the old sofware but eventuallu our size will catch up to the limits of this software too. Will it help iof we clean out the tracked messages boxes since the default is to get a recipte for every PM sent?

How about our PM boxes of old messages?

What about our subscrition threads pages?

No need to purge. You will eventually hit the limits we set for your PM box and subscriptions and will have to clean them up to send/receive more.

Your subscribed messages are different that pm's as you know, and do not impact board performance. There is no limit on the number of subscriptions you can have. If there is, I have not found a mention of such at the Vbulletin support pages.

One further clarification -- tracking messages do not go against your private message limits.

The database and forum software in place for the new version should be able to handle a board 10-100x as large as large as ours. The server is handling the new board fine, and culling should not be necessary from a board perspective. Just keep within your limits, and everything should be fine.

How do you determine that we will soon be 100x our current size? In any event, Tom has monitoring on disk usage and if it hits a certain percentage he will just add more.

Kent, wasn't sure about the subscription limit so I just lumped that in with the PM counts. Why anyone would want to subscribe to hundreds of threads is beyond me. I think I may have followed 1 thread in my whole time on vBulletin here.

I have mine set to automatically subscribe to all posts I respond too. You never know when someone might post "you are looking great, Kent" in a really old forgotten post.
