Default Thyroid testing

I had my thyroid tested because, my Mom has thyroid problems, my hair is thinning and I am cold all the time. I realize I have a lot less insulation but it is getting warmer and I am still running around in long sleved t-shirts plus a flannel shirt. Everyone else is hot. Anyway here are my results...

TSH -2.83, (looks like in normal range)
Free T4 - 1.14 (looks like in normal range)
Free T3 - 127.00 Says low - normal 230.00 - 420.00

What does this mean? I just stopped to pick up the results and did not talk to the Dr, they said they would call if there was a problem but I haven't heard from them. Should I be calling them to see if this is a problem? Thanks :confused

2big usually comes in and answers these questions, but she is on leave, so my best advise would be to call your doc and discuss it with him/her.
Let us know what you find out.

Hi
it can mean several things. basically it means you have a low amount of the active form of thyroid hormone T3 in your system and your doc will take some steps to check for the actual cause and will get you some T3 to get you going.
Are you seeing an endocrinologist?

Default Re: Thyroid testing

I saw the Dr yesterday and he says because the other two levels are OK he thinks that there was a lab error and that he will retest in a couple months and then if it is the same he will do something about it that it wouldn't be likely they would make the same mistake twice. He says likely I am so cold all the time because of loss of body fat. Thanks for answering.
