| hyper means you are have too much thyroid hormone and as a result it is sending signals to your brain not to produce the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone called TSH in your blood work. There are lots of temporary things that can cause that too other then Graves disease. Did your doc schedule any follow up tests? this is just a partial list of things that can cause it to change you have lowered your your intake of chemicals like birthcontrol pills or plant estrogen like compounds and your T4 isn't becoming protein bound and is free to enter your cells where it is needed as T3 which would cause the negative feed back for the production of TSH giving you a lower TSH number. Lots of women experience this change at menopause too. Eating less groitegen foods will do the same thing so you might want to check the list posted in here and see if that is the case. Increasing your Calcium intake will cause the para thyroid to lower its amount of bone robbing calcium removal signals that interfer with thyroid hormone production and as a result you can have to much Thyroid being produced to compensate until the negative feed back foir that low TSH catches up. Check your supplements too as some have thyroid stimulating compounds and that can cause the low TSH too. On the good side right now having a low TSH means your metabolism should be working much better for your weight loss as many hyper folk see a rapid weight loss as their first symptom. BUT there are other more dangerous chnages that will occur as I'm sure your foc warned you about and to watch out for. happy low carbing

| ::::grabs purple crayon...jots down notes....pauses to look confused....jots down more notes.....pauses to look confused....jots down questions.....::::: LOL. Thanks 2big. Yep. The TSH value is .44 and yep, I have an endocrinologist follow-up scheduled, so before I get to diggin' too much and over analyzing, I'll get those test results going on. After the meeting here this morning at my condo complex (major fire - will post more on that later), I'm going to sleep and then start doing some reading up on this stuff. Thanks for the feedback - knew I could count on you ~Brook

| Hi. I'm new to this board and was browsing around and found your post. Did you ever find out anything more about your thyroid? I'm asking because a year ago my levels were borderline hyperthyroid too and my doctor just said to have a blood test every year to keep an eye on it. I have heard that sometimes something will attack the thyroid so first you will test with high levels and then the thyroid will stop working properly and you will develop hypothyroidism. I think that may be happening to me know because I feel chilly all the time and I have a low grade fever most of the time (around 99.5). |

| Sorry, I'm new to forums as well as Atkins. Did you mean if you ignore the thyroid thing it will go away or if you ignore the old post it will go away? |
