| you have that a little backwards your new medicine can do for your Atkins. with your new higher level of thyroid hormone in your system every cell in your body will be doing its function and your metabolism will pick up as you return to normal making your weight loss no hardewr then anybody else's. work your Atkins both the eating and the exercise part and your weight will come off. Watch that you keep the goitrogens consistant in your eating plan so you don't mess up your corrected levels as your doc titrates your dose. Happy low carbing

| Ok I totally didn't follow that! I am not on medication, my dr. chose not to put me on any and wanted to just monitor it. So at this point, I just know I have a "low" thyroid. I just wanted to know what the difference between a low thyroid and a hyperthyroid? Is it the same? |

| it is the oposite. if you are low then you have less thyroid hormone then normal and you are hypo. hyper is when you have too much

| I have a low thyroid and My regular family doctor has been treating it for 15 years now. I went to an endocrinologist and she upped my medication. She also found that I am severly vitamin D deficient which has caused me to have osteoporosis at 40. I wouldn't mess with the thyroid. Just a suggestion is to see an endocrinologist, they specialize in thyroids and know mor about it than a regular MD.......Dawn |
