Do you know anything about Aspartame and Graves Disease?

I inadvertently found a bunch of information (or perhaps just propoganda) that aspartame can directly cause Graves Disease. Have you heard this before? Do you know how factual this is?

It's sort of freaking me out--I had Graves Disease as a teenager which miraculously "cured" itself. It wasn't until today that I remembered that during this same time, I'd given up drinking diet soda. I used to drink 6-7 cans a day...

Just wondering if you had any info on this subject, or is it all scare tactics and propoganda?

ETA: I realize that aspartame is NOT approved for Atkins, but as a kid, I grew up on the stuff, as did many of us during the 80s and 90s.

I haven't heard of that before. If you saw a cause and effect, though, I'd definitely stay away from aspartame!

That's great that you got over Graves--that was definitely a miracle!

There are lots of rumors on the web, I'd ask your doctor next time you see him.
