| Hello Lady, I was diagnosed with Hypo-thyroidism when I was 30 years old. It caused me to become the heaviest that I had ever been and then causing more complications along the way. Being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes when I was 40. I discovered Atkins and On July 07,2004 I began the healthiest lifestlye there is "Atkins" Within 48 days I reversed my Typ-2 Diabetes and is Controlled with this woe((way of eating) alone. I lost 100 pounds in ten months and after a year my blood pressure stablized and kicked my high blood pressure to the curb along with the meds for it. To this date I have lost a total of 146 pounds and have kept it off. I will be celebrating my 4th Atkins Anniversary on the 7th of next month. I am the healthies I have ever been Thanks to Atkins and my dedication to my health. ![]() What I have found important concerning my thyroid is to have it checked on a regular basis. I have mine checked every six months now. It took a dive on me last year and I gained back 45 pounds. Once I had my meds adjusted the weight flew off again and I'm close to goal again now. I am also very attentive to signs of slow thyroid. Sluggishness, contipation, hair loss, trouble losing weight, dry skin and cold all the time. All warning signs. Welcome to Atkins and ADBB . I look forward to seeing you here and sharing your success story.Sincerely, Sherri

| Hi Lady T, Well I think it makes it much harder to lose weight if you have a thyroid issue, but this WOL has worked for me when nothing else did. I got hypothyroidism when I was 18 and gained 42lbs in a year, and later more when I wasn't in the right frame of mind to deal with it. Lots of frustrating and failed diets later I tried atkins in Sep 2006. I also ran, went to the gym, did lots of classes and recently lots of kickboxing. I lost 30lbs fairly fast - see pictures below. The rest of the weight is much harder to shift but I still feel sooo much better. Even if I stay at this weight I'll be happy to stick with this WOL. So as we prove (and lots of others on here) weight loss with thyroid issues is possible. If you meds aren't right though, as Sherri said, it is very hard. Good luck and let us know how you go! |
