| You can take flax oil to get the same benefits as fish oil. Omega 3-6-9 is the similar to fish oil, but I believe the fish and flax oil are just Omega 3, which is the most important anyway. I've also heard it's possible to have too much of 6 and 9?

| The liquid form is probably better, but it has a bigger chance of spoiling or going bad (as it needs to be refrigerated), whereas the capsules don't have as great a risk of going rancid or losing efficacy. The capsules are more convenient, too...my co-workers already think I'm strange enough, I can imagine the looks I'd get taking huge swigs of oil throughout my day...

| Flax oil will indeed go rancid, so please be careful. The capsules are perfectly fine. Both fish oils (whether cod or salmon or other) and flaxseed oils contain omega 3, which is what most people want for good health. However, fish oil also contains other goodies that flaxoil does not. Fish oil is usually recommended for those that have cardiovascular issues, but really, anyone can take them. And you can definitely have too much omega 6....most people have way too much! I can update my omega 3-6-9 thread by including a few paragraphs on fish oils. Lemme add that to my list of things to do. |

| flax 3's however, don't contain EPAs- only fish(and sea algea) does. You might want to check out long chain vs short chain omega 3's before making a switch, espec. if you don't eat much fatty fish. |

| Very true, chicklady, but not everyone needs to take EPA. However, omega 3s are vital, especially in the age of processed foods. |

| I realize of bodies are capable of converting, but from what I've read, we are very inefficient at it, and would require 10 times the amount of plant based O3's to get sufficient amts. |

| Oh wow!!! I was previously taking the Omega 3,6,9 pill. That thing was HUGE!! I ran out and then just got the flax capsules instead. So you all are saying that the Fish oil is better than the 3,6,9?? I have an Atkins book about the suppliments..I need to read some more I think. I have noticed, since taking the Flax pills, I am more..."regular" which was a problem for a while with me. |

| Flax oil capsules are perfectly fine! They are a great source of omega 3s and a lot easier on the pocketbook than fishoil. I love Atkins' VitaNutrient book! Enjoy the reading. |
