| I just read the BB nutrional label on-line for the recovery drink...it has 39g of carbs per 2 scoops of powder, 36 of which were sugars! Looking at the ingredient list, the first ingredient listed was fructose, which is your typical fruit sugar, followed by whey protein powder, dextrose (which is the same thing as glucose)....I love BB workout videos, but I can't imagine consuming this particular product. Which GNC product are you taking? I'm glad, however, to hear that the GNC version has less carbs! I have not taken any of these particular "recovery drinks" but we (DH and I) have taken whey powder and a variety of vitamins and amino acids after a particularly hard workout. I feel they make a difference. I'm curious what others take after a strenuous workout and what results they have seen. |

| I've never done the protein powder/shake/drink thing after a workout. I just make sure that I drink plenty of fluids and eat something really satisfying. So far so good!

| Thanks for the post guys, I like the one I bought at GNC because it has only 3.5 carbs in there plus it has a bunch of stuff to build lean muscle mass. The thing that I am worried about is that I know some of these supplement, protein mixes bulk people up, which is exactly the thing that I am trying to avoid. I want to lean out and I think that building muscle will help me accomplish that. I am doing tough workouts that combine a bunch of cardio with weight training, it's tough which is why I thought about the recovery formula. However, in the past when I did slim in 6 I didn't use any recovery formula and ended up losing a ton of weight and getting pretty slim. I am trying to get there again. Any thoughts? |

| Well, the BB product has creatine in it and for some folks, it does bulk them up a bit. Does your GNC product have that in it? If so, then perhaps try consuming a smaller dose (since you've already purchased the product) and then take some other supplements to help with recovery. |

| The guy at the GNC store said that it had a small amount of Creatine. I think I am going to take your advice and have half of a scoop with my water, that'll bring the carb count to under 2 and I can feel a little better about getting bigger instead of smaller. Thanks for the help. |

| Yoly, I'm curious. What did you buy @ GNC. I bought a protein powder from them recently, and I've been using it after workouts. I can't remember when the stuff I bought is called. I'll have to check when I get home. |

| Sorry, I too can't remember the name. I'll post it later though. It's funny about Creatine, the BB workout one has one too and there are women following that program to the T, which includes the drink, and they don't seem to be overly big. I may post the question over on their message board and see what I get in reply. I'll get the name and check back with you. |

| Is it a whey protein drink mix? Scrutinize the ingredient list. You don't want ANYTHING with fructose in it. http://www.thenutritionreporter.com/...e_dangers.html http://www.nutritionandmetabolism.com/content/2/1/5 Even trace amounts of fructose (or high fructose corn syrup and corn syrup) can stall some people. And, call it a fancy name, but fructose is SUGAR, plain and simple. If you are having problems stalling, scrutinize everything for fructose. The reason I bring this up is that many of the nutritional drink mixes have fructose in them.

| Will do. Actually I spoke to a guy I know who is getting a PhD in kinesiology, so he is kind of a pro on the subject. He said to lay off of the creatine, even in small amounts until I lost all the fat that I wanted to, then when i am ready to add more muscle mass I should take the creatine and work out really intensly so that I use up all of the extra creatine in the recovery drink. If I don't use up all of the creatine then it will cause me to retain water in my muscles and look bigger. |
