Default Omega 6 and 9 fatty acids??

I recently purchased a blend of fish, flax, and borage oil capsules which contain omega 3,6, and 9 fatty acids. I grabbed it quick because I saw that it was on clearance and I was looking for some essential oils to take. Then I remembered reading somewhere that omega 6 fatty acids are not good for you or something?? Does anyone know anything about this? I asked a friend who is knowledgeable in the area of supplements and she says that all of the omega fatty acids are good for you as long as they are in the correct balance with eachother or something??

Thanks for the link! Wow that's a lot of info lol. So I eat cheese, eggs, chicken, ham and occasionally pork chops and bacon, but I don't eat any red meat or beef. Also I use olive oil every day for cooking and in my salads and occasionally I use flax. Do you think there's any omega 6's in those meats/fats or should I just go ahead and take that supplement?

I personally wouldn't worry so much about supplementing with omega 6s. We tend to consume too much of it as is. Focus on omega 3s and you should be just fine.

Omega-6 is the source of ALA which becomes GLA. Most people don't have high quality sources of GLA in their diets. GLA is extremely important for people who have allergies because GLA is a natural leukotriene inhibitor. Borage oil is one of the best sources, evening primrose oil is another one but has sterols that are estrogenic.

My allergies improved dramatically with borage oil.
