Re: My supplements i'm taking after reading some of Dr Atkins book | | I would not take supplements for depression (5-HTP) or blood pressure (L-taurine, which is a diuretic) unless told to do so by a doctor.
L-glutamine is said to help with sugar cravings that are not controlled by ketosis. I never took it.
L-carnitine plays a role in transporting fatty acids into the mitochondria. Beef and pork are rich in carnitine. Unless you are carnitine-deficient, the supplement will not help you.
Chromium also plays a role in fat metabolism. As with L-carnitine, unless you chromium-deficient, taking a supplement will probably not help you.
I assume you want to take B-12 for depression. Again, I would discuss this with a doctor, especially if you are taking any other medication.
The magnesium, I guess, is for hypertension and/or insomnia. Check with your doctor if you need to supplement with magnesium.

Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"
