How many net carbs does fat free cottage cheese have in it? I need to know because I want to eat it later today. It says it has 5 grams of carbs in 1/2 cup and 0 grams of fiber. How many net carbs is that? I don't really understand how to calculate net carbs. I read about it but I'm still confused. Thanks!

Re: Fat free cottage cheese
Why are you (a) eating fat-free anything and (b) eating something that's not allowed on induction? Cottage cheese isn't allowed until Rung 2.
To answer your question, you subtract fiber grams from total carb grams (5-0 = 5 net carbs).- M/37

Re: Fat free cottage cheese
Cottage cheese isn't allowed until Rung 2 (not on induction). You should eat full-fat cottage cheese on Atkins, not low-fat or fat-free.
Net Carbs are Total Carbs - Fiber, so 5-0=5, for 1/2 cup in the example above.Julie__________________F/37/5'2"__________________Start April 15, 2009

Ooh, I see that you're newly registered (sorry). You should go to the FAQ section of the induction forum and see the appropriate foods for induction, and only eat from that list.

Re: Fat free cottage cheese
Since you haven't read the book at least look at this area to get information on how much fat/protein/carbs you need daily. The fat in foods is what will keep you from getting hungry during the day. The "fat free" and "reduced fat" foods have ingredients in them (usually sugars with different names) that will keep you from loosing.Carole_____________________May Water 130oz daily

The book that we follow is called Dr.Atkins New Diet Revolution. (DANDR for short) We use the 2002 edition. You can buy in new or used in stores or on line.
