  • Mid-Year Resolution Thread For the Week of Sept. 25- Oct. 2

    Wooooooooooooooooowie, you guys!

We're already moving into October! Can you believe this action?!

This week I'd like US to focus on our exercise:

How much do you do now?

Can you add an extra 15 minutes a day to your regime?

Atkins requires exercise. Without it, we're not raising our metabolisms to burn off the fat quickly.

I've lost 30 pounds in the last month, but only because I've exercised!

See what you can do! If you've joined Skyye's 6-week exercise challenge, AWESOME! If you're not ready, please keep track of what you're doing and report here.

How are you doing otherwise? Please share concerns, needs for hugs, anything here. I'm also VERY involved with bootcamp right now as a drill sergeant, so I'll be here slightly less the next two weeks. But know I'm still here everyday and will comment when I can.

Let's keep each other going. You are all very special to me!

Re: Mid-Year Resolution Thread For the Week of Sept. 25- Oct. 2

I joined the 6WEC, my first one! I'm excited about it. For some reason it never appealed to me before -- I think I wanted to go at my own pace. But now, I'm psyched. I took my measurments this morning and already got my 30 minutes out of the way.

I am aiming to do 4 days a week, 30 minutes each session. My session will either be running or rollerblading mostly, but occasionally I might walk or do aerobics/weights in my living room.

I have another 5K race on October 29th, so my goal is to run it in under 33:00. Hopefully, this 6WEC will get me to that goal!

Effie-- that is so cool! I'm VERY excited for you! Another 5k! The 6-week challenge makes it so that when I miss a day of exercise I feel that there's somethinbg missing.

Me! That's pretty ibcredible! And also seeing my pals there on the challenge makes it all the more fun to check in everyday!

Way to go on the Sunday exercise, too!

This week I'd like US to focus on our exercise:

How much do you do now? About an hour four or five times a week.

Can you add an extra 15 minutes a day to your regime? Maybe on the off days, I could go for 15 min.

Been extremely sick since Thursday. Back now. DOwn six pounds, due to being unable to eat. APparently the calories in three otter pops (the only thing I could eat aside of tea) doesnt amount to enough to maintain weight. Who knew?

        Daily Goals:
        No wasted carbs.
        Water intake .5 -1 gallon.
        Exercise 60 minutes 5x week
        Get in the right veggies.

I am here. Womanpraised...what a way to lose it. Hope you are well soon.

I am not actually exercising..unless you count tearing down a room and tearing out the garden and yard work. I am moving more now than before I started Atkins.

              I am down .5

I should be down more and I plan to exercise more than my usual 3 times a week.

Have a good day and week!

I am down to 208.5. I did not see my name on the list anymore. I don't know where it went.

As far as exercise goes, I had been going to Curves. I liked it, but thru my work we could join Gold's Gym for $109 for the entire year, so I am currently trying to get on a schedule/routine for exercising there. I am also trying to park farther away and take more stairs, etc. instead of parking more convenient places. Every little bit counts in my opinion. I am missing Curves though. I have not found my groove at Gold's yet. It is also much harder to get my exercise now that I am back to work this fall after being off all summer. My weight loss has definitely slowed down a lot and I feel it is due in part to less exercise. Gotta get my exercise groove back on for sure.

Can someone explain Bootcamp to me. How you get chosen to participate and when they occur, etc. Thanks.

Good job everyone on your losses.

Missed last Mondays weigh in - I hate to say it but sometimes LIFE just gets in the way.

Anyway not alot to report - 196 - hey a pound is a pound. Not proud of the fact that we had 3 football games last week and I had popcorn at everyone
Well we have 2 games this week and I will be bringing my meat and cheese.

1 week until surgury on my foot - trying to get everything done at work so I wont be so stressed. ( I am self employed)

Good luck to all of my New Year's Eve party Friends!!!!!!

Hey Cleo! I would like to join your challenge! Please put me down as arriving at my goal and in maintenance by Jan. 1st. The way the last 10 to 15 pounds are coming off, if may take me that long.

Anyhow, here are my stats: SW 295.5 CW 166.5 GW 155?

Thanks for the challenge, I really enjoy the accountability that it provides!

My answer to the exercise challenge question is, no! I don't think I could add another 15 min. to my routine.

Current routine consists of the following:

Exercise 7 days a week by rotating the following activites:
                    - 40 minutes on elliptical machine
                    - Run 2 miles then walk 2 miles
                    - Ride my bike 6 miles
                    - Weight lifting 3x per week

Final question? Since January I have not missed a day of exercise, seriousally. Recently though I read an article about taking a day of rest for your body to recoup. Should I be doing this? (I think I will also post this question under the exercise forum.)

So glad you are back, Cleo!

                    Blessings and Hugs,
                    Start weight 01/01/10 ~ 212lbs./Current 200

                    Stats as of 05/01/2007
Starting to believe thin is possible!

I exercise 4-5 days a week, and usually always something different. My exercise ranges from 30 - 60 minutes each time, and ranges in activity from exercise videos, to walking, to bike riding. And now that the pool is FINALLY open in our building, I suspect I'll also be swimming now, too! I can't do the same exercise every day, I get far far too bored.

Also, in the last few weeks, I've added strength training back into the mix. A few years ago, I was very much into strength training - I loved the rush, and the results. I still have all my handheld weights, my plates, my bar, etc. So I've pulled them back out, and yet again am practicing my form. I still love the rush it gives me!

Oh, and I also joined in on the 6WEC challenge. SHould be fun!

My weight is still stuck, but for whatever reason, I'm feeling different the last few days. Maybe its just me being silly, but I suspect (hope?) I won't be stuck much longer. And even if I am, I'm ok with that. At this point, this far into the game, there's nothing out there that could make me go back to the stupid habits I used to have. So I think I'm becoming ok with just doing what I've been doing, and being confident that I'm doing it right, and eventually my body will follow suit.

Otherwise, I've been having a lot of NSV that make me feel good. Like going to a birthday party yesterday for my niece, and not partaking in one iota of bad for me food, despite being pushed to eat it all day long. Once my family finally understood that yes, I am still doing my "diet" regardless of the event (that's what they kept calling it when they asked me), and that I'm not going to jeapordize my blood sugar the way I used to before (I am pre-diabetic), they finally left me alone. So I ate my smoked gouda, my chicken, salad, garlic tomatoes, peas, and a slice of the low-carb cheesecake that I made, and (of course - given my stall), the scale didn't budge! Hurray!

I hope you're all doing well.

Hello everyone! Thanks for checking in with your weight...the chart has been updated. And twg..you are on there...just above jsj I think. Congrats on all the losers!! Rybread...just a thought...I know you have been thinking you have been in a stall the past couple of weeks...but you also started the stregh training around then too..is it possible that you are in fact still losing fat but building muscle?? Muscle weighs more than fat so it might take a couple of weeks for it all to work out...just a thought???

You were near the bottom at one time but we are getting more people willing to challenge themselves every now and then.

Wow...you have come a long way. You must be able to practically smell Onderland!! How very exciting!! Keep up the great work.

Well, summer is officially over, and I won't be able to run outside! I have just joined my 3rd session of 6WEC. It has definately kept me on track, faithfully 5-6 days a week, and most times 7 days a week. Now I consider exercise a habit, not a chore like I used to. I have also incorporated new things, such as the couch-5K program, kickboxing, and pilates. Yesterday I received a new DVD, Slim in 6, as I have heard so much about it on this board. I am eager to try new things, whatever it takes to get to goal. I'm 1.5 lbs away from onederland, and I have not moved on the scale for the last 14 days! So I'm off now to do Slim in 6, and hopefully will be in onederland within the next 7 days!
