Challenge
Challenge
Intro: I'm starting a challenge because I'm not sure I'm ready for some of the other challenges here. I'm not the most in shape -- I don't even know where to start sometimes! Plus I DO forget the basics of Atkins sometimes too. I've read the book -- twice! I just forget stuff sometimes. I think it's important to ease yourself into some of the less obvious stuff in Atkins.
Why me?: Well, to be honest? I am worried about joining a challenge that I don't even know where to start. I'm 100+ lbs from goal, and I really don't know much about exercising. I'm really picky with food too. I hate water. I love cokes. I have addictions, and I need to detox. But I'm busy and forgetful. I think if I take it one goal at a time, I'll have a MUCH better chance at adjusting. If anyone else wants to take it a step at a time, please join me!
Concept: I plan to make specific goals, and once those goals are attained, I gain a point. Points are like saying, "Hey, look what I've accomplished -- each POINT stands for an obstacle in my weight loss that I've overcome!" I kinda frame this around Induction stage, but of course, anyone of any stage can probably get some value out of this challenge (I hope!)
Goals: To learn about the basics of Atkins, the details of Atkins, and how to make my life and this WoE work together.
Rules:
1. You need to want to work on this WoE seriously!
2. You have to be honest with yourself and with your friends (US!)

3. Post your progress in SOME way on the thread once a week. You can post your pounds lost, inches lost, OR general statements like, "I walked a mile!" or "I felt GREAT!"
4. Ask for help when you need it. Even if it's a gross problem, or if you just had a bad day.
5. Post your goals and your goal deadlines. You can have as many or as few goals as you want!
6. Put something in your signature like: (FOG) Goals Achieved: 12
7. Don't stress out over goals. Work on them. Don't be afraid to adjust your goals as you settle in reality.
8. Don't make goals you can't accomplish. (Don't have unhealthy goals or goals that will cause you pain of course!)
9. Don't make a goal for something you already do. For example, if you jog 2 miles a week, don't make a goal to jog 1 mile a week unless you mean 1 additional mile! Or don't say you want to get to 150 lbs if you're already at 149 lbs.
10. Smile! Have a positive attitude. It means the world.
Suggestions:
These are only suggestions!
- Got a lot to lose? Don't be embarrassed. This is a diet forum for goodness' sake! We're all in the same spot. Or we CAN understand it.
- Use fitday to track all your food stuff!
- Get a Journal in the Journal forum! You can always vent stress there. Plus Sheshy & Sharni are really nice hostesses!
- Make a list of all the goals you have, and then give yourself a pessimistic & optomistic deadline.
- Make small goals instead of broad ones. "I want to lose 100 lbs" is a great goal, but how about, "I want to lose 10 lbs by November" and then update it when it's achieved?

- Take measurements/weigh yourself once a week and ONLY once a week. You don't have to post your stats if you don't want to.
- Take a photo of yourself once a week or once a month. You don't have to post 'em if you don't want to, keep them for yourself so you can see how far you've come.
- Did you learn something while doing your challenges? Post what you found out! If you realized something new from DANDR or if you did some research about exercises, talk about it!
- Done with the goal but want to do it again? GO FOR IT!
- Overwhelmed? Take ONE challenge and Focus on it!
Other challenges?: Ok, challenges are COOL.
I intend to join some challenges as I feel capable. I'm in BCtcCW and I think it's great because it's at my pace. If challenges work for you, do as many as you can, but don't burn out!Join?: Just talk in the thread, post progress reports, post goals, encourage other people! Put something in your signature about FOG once you've started knocking down those obstacles.
Ok, I joined. Now what?: You can specify your own goals and deadlines, and/or you can take up my weekly challenges! I will post a few new challenges in this thread every week and we'll see how many we can knock out together!
Ready? Set? GOoOooOo!

Caution I BITE!
